New powered mains...EV, or DB Technolgies?

Hey all,
I currently have a set of DB Technologies mains (Opera 215s) that I have never had any trouble with, and typically sound really nice/powerful enough for my needs. I purchased them, along with some DB Sub 15s a few years ago now from Rik's Music (now its RMC Audio, www.rmcaudio.com). I am going to add a DBX Driverack, either the PA or the PX to my system, and I would like to get some new mains, and use my old DB's as backups.
NLFX has really good pricing on some EV mains (SxA250s), right now. Rik's Music also has a set of DB 405 mains that have good specs and a 3 year warranty for a really good price. What do you guys think? Should I upgrade (in theory) for the EV speakers, or keep continuity with the DBs that are cheaper, and would probably still serve my needs. Any of the three speaker I believe would do a great job...another thing to ponder, I may be getting bigger subs sometime in the future too, as I have not been really impressed with my DB subs. I am considering either making my own folded horns, or buying some powered 15s or 18s.
Unfortunately I am in the boonies so to speak, so I have never heard the EV speakers mentioned above. It would be great to side by side them, but that just doesnt seem very easy where I am located...Just some thoughts...input?

I'm not familiar with the DBs but I have a pair of the EVs and they sound great. They are a little heavy and cumbersome but the sound is great. I only use them in certain places because the trow isn't that good. I like taking these to a smaller location, were it doesn't make since to bring a pair of mackies and a sub.

If you are open to other brands the QSC HPR series are very nice sounding. Have a look

Well... obviously we think you should get them from... ummm... us. LOL. ;) Okay, seriously, we sell RCF, EV and QSC... no question that the EV is the best sounding of the three in my opinion. Several times customers who HAVE heard these head to head in our showroom have left with the EVs. All 3 are quality speakers though.

I have owned three EV SxA360s for a couple of years now, and they're very nice and articulate and much better-sounding than the Mackies I had for six years.

The big drawback to them is that there's not much bass at all, and I have to use them with my B-52 ACT-18 sub.

I don't know about the 250s, though. I would go with Ben's advice, but also try to listen to anything you're considering. I got burned in the past by NOT hearing speakers before I bought them and I've regretted it.
