Ok Drax was the one who first made the suggestion but in our last managers meeting we talked about it for real.
What do you guys think of me possibly splitting up our business into a wedding business/website and separate marketing and then the "more fun" business kids, schools, privates, corporates etc.
All thoughts appreciated.
Our wedding entertainment coordinator and my Assistant Manager think we do great conservative elegant weddings and of course great throw down fun weddings but the MORE FUN marketing may scare some of those types of brides away

DJ Ducky 06-20-2008, 09:34 AM You're a DJ...shouldn't you be expected to do both the elegant weddings and the fun, zany parties?
Of course, it's about whatever you think is best for your company. You could do what a lot of corporations are doing and buy up a memorable URL (orangeunderground.com as a separate site from cheetos.com) and have a separate marketing campaign. If I were to do this, I would start thinking of some catch phrases for each marketing campaign and work on URLs. I think that this would especially work for the zanier crowd; while engaged couples can find and view your regular site, the others can find your bright, vibrantly-colored party site. :sqcool:

Yeah ducky thats what were thinkng or do a dedicated url, slogan and campaign for weddings because 1st Carolina DJ's is growing synonymous with we have more fun. We did a chamber event yesterday and this old guy said "Hey you're the more fun guys" which was a strong indicator that this is working.

Travis B 06-20-2008, 11:18 AM FWIW... Kelly & Arnoldo's DJ Service has a service called "4 Schools Only" a division of their DJ service dedicated exclusively for schools and their zany parties.
Dave Miller 06-20-2008, 08:44 PM You're a DJ...shouldn't you be expected to do both the elegant weddings and the fun, zany parties? While that's an obvious "YES", they are best served with separate marketing. Therefore separate websites.
I think its a no brainer of a good idea.
Papa Deuce 06-20-2008, 08:52 PM I have seerate websites for my DJ and Bubble Party business... with cross links, obviously.
Scott Hanna 06-25-2008, 07:29 AM I have seerate websites for my DJ and Bubble Party business... with cross links, obviously.
that's only because no one could take you seriously as a wedding dj because you do children's parties too:sqwink:
Scott Hanna 06-25-2008, 07:31 AM so it's not really "splitting" the business, rather splitting the marketing, that's all.

Would a bride that's looking for elegant, think someone who does 'zany fun' weddings can also do elegant? Doubtful.

Teddy,
there is logic to it, but I was poking fun at what someone told him once.

Very Nice Dan
I like both Logos
Wavy Davy 07-02-2008, 08:56 AM Kyle - set up separate web sites mate - believe me it will be worth it in so far as more work from the Internet and more credibility in "differing arenas"
I would have done this years ago had I catered for anything but upscale weddings or 70s throwdowns.
Michigan DJ 07-05-2008, 01:24 PM My only concern is that you will be lessening the impact you have already built with your name recognition. You have already established that you are the DJs that "Have more fun" and your business is booming. Why start marketing to stuffy clientele? You will have to re-build a reputation with whatever new name you give to the second company (or marketing campaign)
Why not make your start page two buttons. One for weddings and one for the other fun stuff? That way you still utilize your name recogntion but give clients a choice right at the onset.

I like the look!
DanBenoit 07-25-2008, 11:03 PM we are going to combine the 2 pages with a splash page then you click Cooperate or Wedding, then it will take you to the appropriate page. "The Crew" is just temporarily linked to the White Rose page. We also added a blog to the white rose page, that will launch tomorrow.

Sweet site! A little "clubish" but I like the green. :)

I forgot to mention that if I knew then what I know now - back in 1995 when I went Mobile in San Francisco I would have put up a blog using Moveable Type, posted photos, all about events, where they were etc etc and been making a fortune now by dominating the complete top 10 positions in my area - i do this with my SEO business and usually have 6 out of top 10 spots on Google
