Funny, I just submitted my website column for Mobile Beat and I wrote it about the power of website stats and how you can use the data you get from your stats.

My website host has pretty good stats but I add this to my site too just to see if there are any other stats I don't currently get with my host.

Matt,

I have used webmaster tools (this is included in its arsenal).

Although my site (hosted by me) has pretty good basic log stats, Google Analytics shows where my clients are pulling up information, tells me about my target audience, much more than my webstats.

If you would like help adding this on feel free to contact your friendly qualified web developer, Wavy, Randy, Dan, and I should be available to help get you started :)

I have heard that google doesn't like statcounters, is that correct? I have had a statcounter for about 3 years, it's pretty awesome, but I do notice my listing moves from spot 1 or 4 on the first page to 3 page every so often and it doesn't index my other pages. Could it be because of the statcounter?

I don't see why google would penalize you. Maybe wavy can chime in.
