So I've tentatively decided to rename the business "A&J Entertainment" when I get started back up in the next few weeks.

After doing some research I found an "E&J Entertainment" not too far from where I'm at. Our service areas might actually overlap a little.

Are these names too similar?

it might be a conflict though likely it will be more of a benefit to you initially and if you actually exceed their level of business then they likely benefit. Folks will get them confused.
On the down side if they stink up some events and a client associates you your likely labeled. I would change it.

There are soooo many name possibilities out there, why not pick something that describes your business and what you provide?

A Cut Above DJ Services-When the night is special, when only the best will do, A Cut Above will Come through for you. etc.

That was corny, but it's the concept, not my words that is the point. EJ or AJ etc. tells them nothing about your company and doesn't attract any attention.

I agree with the rest you should reconsider the name. In our area we have at least 4 that have some variance of "Music Machine" or "Music Factory" in thier name and with exception of one of the latter who is a friend of mine and the original I can't tell you who's who let alone a client trying to figure it out

Yes.........for the reasons Jon Tuck already described!

And, another member (above) pointed out that the name has no KEY WORDS that could help you in a google search.

MI-DJ.com (get it: My DJ?) not sure if its taken but that would be my clear choice of names.

play on words -AND- BONUS: Google-icious name that will rock the search results!
