Wedding Wire Connections

In the past two weeks I've had 3 requests to connect vendor to vendor on www.weddingwire.com

Has anyone else seen this kind of upswing in connection requests?

I know that when I searched Wedding Wire when I first signed on looking for local vendors for things like flowers, photography and other Non-DJ type vendors. I was coming up empty now it seems that maybe there are more vendors in my area that are starting to find and use the site...

I think this might be a good thing but, with sites like this is it a good idea to accept as many connections to credible vendors as possible or should one limit these connections in some way?

I do... I have gotten some valid leads from the site.... I've also gotten many leads outside my operating area too... but any lead is a good lead especially if it leads to a booking.

I had a few folks that wanted to connect recently..... from CALIFORNIA.... which makes no sense as I live in Philly AND I don't know them.

I agree but here lately the connection requests have been from vendors that are actually local to me and not just new subscribers most have had reviews on their services posted...

Which in a way may lend some credibility to my own storefront by offering other vendors for the other aspects of a wedding that have as good of a reputation as my own.

Thoughts?

Rob, if the vendors are local to you, and they are reputable, then I don't see any reason not to include them in your "Vendors I Know" category. It works two ways - when you accept them, your storefront information shows up on their storefront. It's basic cross-promoting of brands.

The VERY BEST thing any of you can do that have a weddingwire account is to send every past bride that you've done business with, an email from that site asking for feedback and testimonials on your services.

I've found this to be incredibly valuable, because when I send out a Bridal Planning packet, I just print the Testimonials page from my weddingwire account and include those actual testimonials. The power of a previous Brides' positive words are unmatched to ANY kind of advertising you can pay for.

One other thing to keep in mind, is that now that Martha Stewart owns WeddingWire's site, anything you add to your WeddingWire storefront or account automatically shows up on MarthaStewart.com under her wedding category for vendors.

Trust me when I say this, anything you can continue to add to your WeddingWire storefront can only help and enhance your Yahoo and/or Google page rank.

For reference, I'm including captured screenshots of google and yahoo pages. On each one, my weddingwire storefront listing is about 6th or 7th on the first page. I scrolled down on only one of these screenshots to show page rank, and you can see which one that is in the attachments - the one with added text, but it was to prove the point I was making about page rank just by adding to your weddingwire account page. On each of these screen shots, you can see what I typed in the search bar and where my company listing shows up - at the very top of the page.

The same holds true with any listing you can place on Craigslist - you may not receive any leads from either, but it does put your company's name in a potential client's head - either subliminally or non-subliminally.

And just for grins and giggles, if you look closely at the right hand side of each screen shot (the paid listings), you will see Kyle's company listing (1stCarolinaDj's) at the top of every page.
