Well, this is exciting.
In March, the local university's radio station (CIVL) finally started broadcasting on the internet. This has been in the works since 2003, when I had already been slated to host a five-hour long Reggae show called, "The Reggae Spinner" (quite witty, I must say).
Many things changed since then. In 2005, I "moved on" because I was tired of seeing nothing happen. I was even the first person they called, last year, to start training for a radio show, but I said, "Sorry, I've 'moved on.'"
It's funny how things happen. I attended a CIVL barbecue in May and wrote an article for The Abbotsford Post about it; ironically, it was the last article of mine that ever got published. At that barbecue, I became an official member of the station again. Shortly thereafter, to the pleasure of the few core members that were still there, I submitted a show application.
Well, there was some turmoil at the station at that time, and it took my application about a month to be considered; by then, I had "moved on" again (actually, I just thought, "Agh, they don't care.")
My application was, eventually, accepted, and I took my training, and I let weeks go by; after all, I'm a full-time professional businessman DJ now! But I just got an E-mail from the station manager, asking me what's up with my show. OK, so they do care, and I'm going to get on it.
Folks, I'm going to sacrifice MOST (not ALL) of my "OURDJTALK" time for my radio show.
Maybe that's a good thing.
By the way, it is not going to be a five-hour Reggae show--they have Rasta Reuben Kwabena for that. My show is going to called, coincidentally, "The Vinyl Spinner," and it is going to be a one-hour "variety" show. Just wait and see...and hear, too. :)
