I have a Halloween party coming up at the end of August.

It's the closing of a campground for the year, before the kids start school.

I'm looking for a game to play which will include all the kids.

The event is outside. There will be about 250 people there, but 100 will be kids.

I was thinking Limbo or Hula Hoop. But, was hoping for something new.

No water balloons please.

Did you discuss games during booking? Are they expecting them?

There not expecting a game. I thought I would be ahead of the game (no pun) in case they asked for one. Not in the contract.

We did one the last time I entertained for them.

The ages are 8 to 14 years.

Hello Abbey, I was looking online for ideas to help you out and came up with this one from a youth group site, not sure if it is something you want to do, but I thought it was a good idea! :) (copied instructions from the site for you)

Have youth group leaders get all participants standing and forming two circles. One of the circles should be inside of the other circle. It’s helpful if there are a couple of the leaders standing on a stage above the players or on a stable platform/chairs. When the music starts the two circles will rotate in opposite directions. The leaders will stop the music and make an order. Somewhat like the game twister, they will call out body parts to connect. Examples are “right elbow to left ear”, “left knee to nose”, “right hand to right shoulder blade”, “head to left ankle” or other safe combinations you can come up with. You can have these written down to be pulled out of a hat or just make them up as you go. The leader calls out one of the orders and the inside circle players are to quickly find an outside circle player and complete the order by connecting. As the players start to find a partner, they are given only a few seconds to complete the order, the leaders on stage will start calling players out that have not completed the order. The leaders will start pointing and saying “Your out”, “Your out”, “Your out” trying to eliminate as many as possible. After a few seconds you start up the music again and repeat, trying to get it started quickly so that the kids will be mixed up with as many players as possible. You can play this until you have one couple as the winners or until they get tired of the game. Great game to get kids to interact and meet new faces (elbows, knees, ears, feet). Can be done with a large group of 50-100 kids.

Break your kids into teams (as many as possible) and have them all pile their shoes in 1 pile.

Have each team line up and when you say go, send 1 member from each team to find and put on their shoes. When that player gets back, they must tag the next team member and then it continues. The winning team is the one who gets all their shoes on and back to start.

Girls sometimes have the advantage with slip ons but it still is fun. Make sure to mix the shoes up good.

Hula Hoop Pass...

That's what I call it..

everyone in a giant circle holding hands, having to pass the hula hoop thru them, step into over head and so on without letting go of hands, stop the music, whoever the hoop is touching is out... you can use 5 or 6 hoops with that many kids.

Or ifg you want to drag it out use 2 or 3....

You can have helpers watch to see who is out...

I've done this game a bunch of times and I can think of at least 2 times I did it with that many kids

Halloween campground dance, huh? That was my old market for many years. Didn't pay worth a damn but it was fun. :)

Back when we were working the market we'd arrive early, in time for the trick-or-treating. We overnighted at the campground so that helped. Hand out candy and glow bracelets and tell 'em there will be more at the dance... but they've got to be in costume.

This is where your wireless mic will shine. The costume contest is just a part of the overall fun. Many campers decorate their sites so be prepared for a site decoration contest as well. Your audience is the judge, of course. The managers will have to be on board for the site judging. They know who's who. One campground we worked for, the manager's missus coordinated all the contests and did the MCing. That made my job a lot easier.

If the pups are into punkin' decorating or carving, their works can be displayed around the dance area. Do the Limbo, the Train, any line dance the pups like to do and have the audience judge by applause. First and second prizes can be inexpensive gadgets ~ the last one we did, we gave away little calculator pens.

Just my experience ~ mix it up and hold off on the site judging 'til later. You'll want to keep the crowd there. We've seen 'em leave after the announcements. Don't do 'em to soon.

Whatever ya do, ensure that every pup gets some sort of prize, even if it's a glow necklace. Reason I say this, it's Halloween and Halloween is when every pup gets treats. :)

Thoughts?

I was thinking about using this for tomorrow.. smaller scale, but with multiple hula hoops you could easily adapt it.

It is like Musical Chairs...

Get the kids in a few lines and lay hula hoops on the ground in front of each line... make the kids walk through the hoops and circle around... play music..... when you stop the music the ones IN the Hula Hoops are "out".
