I noticed that about 2 days ago I have been needing to log in to ODJT every time. I always check the 'remember me' button, but I guess the computer memory is getting as bad as my memory.

Was there a recent upgrade or something that caused this?

Since Dan recently upgraded us, you will have to redo your sacrifice to the computer gods, in order to remain in their favor :sqlaugh:

Please submit your sacrifice (in the form of one case of beer each, to my address), and maybe it will change... :sqwink:

I'm not sure what the issue is and I hate to pass the buck but 95% of the times it's security software running on your end. Zone Alarm for one is a program that likes to mess with your cookies, I like to call it the cookie monster.

If it were everyone having issues it would have to be my problem but with only 2 or 3 people chances are it's something on their end.

On the windows side I clear my cookies every time I turn off my computer. On Linux I never touch them at times I go back to Linux 2 or 3 weeks later and I'm still logged into ODJT.

I'm going to see about clearing our sessions table in the event that it's something on my side. :)

FYI,
it's happening to me on 2 different computers, so I would be shocked that it started happening to me on both computers and several other people all at the same time and the problems with the individual computers.

If this problem is not solved, I will not be renewing my membership and this site will lose all of the revenue it generates from my membership.:sqwink:

j/k i bet it's some bug in the server that will magically be fixed. Until then, my chubby fingers will have the pain staking task of putting in my log in and password.

It is a vB issue.

I get it randomly as well, and I don't change anything on my development machines.

I just tried to log in from one, that has not done anything but stay on for 3 months, and it gave me a hard time.

vB should clear its own cookies, and update its session tables... ;)

Get on their butts Danno :)

Hmmm.. I'm going monkey around with the database and see what I can cook up. I'm not trying to pass the buck but cannot understand why I cannot reproduce the issue on my own computers.

Howdy Folks,

I gave it a good shot and shut the boards down for a good half hour trying to chase the issue down. I believe I've got it nipped in the bud. Please let me know if you're still experiencing issues.

Due to the changes I made some users may have clear there cookies in order to login. You'll be able login but be taken back to the index unlogged in. This is just cookie conflict, clearing your cookies will allow the board to set a new cookie and you should be set from there.

I'm sorry this has taken so long to figure out and caused you guys inconvenience, it's an elusive problem that isn't always easy to fix.

Starting yesterday I had to login on every visit even though I checked "remember me" and clicked on "accept cookies from this site".

Tossed my cookies and the problem went away.

Thanks, Dan. :)

If this is any help, we run Winders XP. ODJT plants some cookies. Right click the Start button and search your HDD(s) for ODJT. The ODJT cookies should show up in the search results. Move 'em to the recycle bin and relog in to ODJT. That should take care of it.
