Hello Members & Friends,
Many of you are receiving correspondence from us for the first time. Welcome to the world of the New Jersey Disc Jockey Network. I hope you will enjoy your time with the NJDJN.
Our next meeting is September 9 at the Pines Manor in Edison. (for directions go to www.pinesmanor.com) Networking begins at 7:00 with the meeting coming to order at 7:20. As it happens in the NJDJN, it always seems that someone is raising the bar. This month, the bar raising will be done by our very own Jonathan Hadad of City Sounds Entertainment. Jonathan is going all out for our September meeting as he is presenting a "Mock Mitzvah". It is literally that. Jonathan is our host, and we are all his guests. It is going to be a truly valuable meeting for anyone who would like to begin adding Mitzvahs to their entertainment packages as well as seasoned veterans who may be looking to add some new services to their business. Jonathan will walk you through every part of the Mitzvah process and how he creates successful Mitzvahs. He's also pulling out all the stops. Instead of creating a long sentence with a million commas, how about I outline what he's bringing below:
1. Full light show with led fixtures in the truss that will be run by his lighting technician.
2. Two plasma screens showing montages, zap photos, music videos, and custom graphics.
3. Two dancers
4. Cocktail hour activities
Another great thing is that even if you don't currently own any of this or don't like the hassle of setting it up, Jonathan will be happy to rent you any of these services.
It should be another great evening for the NJDJN and it is open to everyone so if you are not a member you are still welcome to come and learn with us. Bring a DJ friend or two with you and find out what we're all about.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of our members and friends who turned out for a rather spectacular meeting in Atlantic City. I really feel bad for those that missed it as it was a great morning. My deepest thank again to Marcello Pedalino, Mike Walter, Sean "Big Daddy" McKee, and Jeffrey Cyber for their wonderful seminars. All of you were fantastic and I heard nothing but raves from everyone at the meeting. Also congratulations to Scott Bichop from High Tower productions who won our grand prize, the American DJ Revo 3 light.
As far as our members doing seminars, there was a lot of that in AC as well. Anyone who didn't learn a little extra something about weddings from Mike Wieder is fibbing. He packed a lot of information into a short period of time and was quite amusing. I laughed a great deal. I don't know how Mike Walter does everything that he does down there. I was exhausted from producing the NJDJN meeting and the games/dances seminar. He did two big seminars, a small seminar for our meeting, ran the Monday night show, and the DJ of the Year show on Wednesday. He also found time to go running every morning. I'm tired from writing all that. Gerry Siracusa ran a great seminar on multi-op mangement that I really enjoyed. Gerry speaks from the heart and it is very evident.
One of my favorite moments of the entire Expo came at my seminar. (And it just wasn't the black guy at the back of the bus in my "Big Squeeze" game, though that was hysterical) It was when I introduced all the NJDJN members as my co-hosts and you all stood wearing your new NJDJN shirts. I felt a lot of pride in that and I loved watching some of my close friends do games and dances that just knocked everyone's socks off. Thanks to all of you that performed at the games/dances seminar. You were all terrific.
Before I close this I'd like to congratulate not only Mike Walter for another great DJ of the Year competition, but to our four members with the, hmm, let's be pc about this, "fortitude" to compete in the contest. Mike Wieder, Laura Gibbons, Mike Banfield, and Betsy Fischer all competed and though none of them won any of the events, they represented the sharing attitude that the NJDJN is all about and were also very entertaining.
I hope I didn't miss anyone. So many of you made a contribution down there. It was really appreciated. Many who did not know anything abou tthe NJDJN learned a great deal about us at the Expo. They learned that the NJDJN rocks!
Many of us have dinner at the Plaza Diner across the street from the Pines Manor before the meeting. We usually start getting there around 5:00 and you are all invited to join us. I look forward to seeing all of you on September 9.
Regards,
