Fred Stewart 08-11-2006, 09:17 AM Folks,
I don't hear much about this brand from DJ companies. Anyone familiar with it? Good, bad... indifferent?
Papa Deuce 08-11-2006, 11:06 AM My best friend has a friend who is the local dealer for them. I have met the guy. I listened to the speakers. I would say -- as would the guy, I think -- that Community is much more of a sound reinforcement speaker than a DJ speaker. They sounded to me like they were all mids, some highs, not much bass..... which is probably great for public speaking events.
They guys name is Bill Beltz. You can probably google him and community. I know they are kind of on the pricey side.
DJ JohnThe1 08-13-2006, 12:42 AM I seen a couple of local bands using Community speakers. The one DJ I seen using them had an older set of double 15 cabs that were big. The sound was good.
jfactor1 08-13-2006, 12:53 AM Just like any speaker company. They make good stuff & crap. I heard a community FoH that was unbelievable. I've also heard some of their stuff that sounded like ish.
chaos 09-01-2006, 06:42 AM I'm both a user and dealer of Community speakers. Overall, they are a decent brand that for whatever reason seems to get overlooked by DJ's. Like most companies, they offer speakers in various price ranges, and their lower priced suff is not great.
I use their Solutions Series SLS920's, and they are simply amazing. The Tandem Drive stuff is also impressive. Not such a fan of the MVP2 and XLTE lines, although the MVP stuff has a 2 year unconditional warranty.
Jeff Romard 09-08-2006, 03:42 AM Ive heard of them and seen them many moons ago. The ones I seen were just a basic PA speaker but i am sure they make other lines. There was someone on the other board that used them I cant remember who off hand mabye Barry Stamper
spinnerdoc 07-24-2007, 01:35 PM They were more known back in the day(late 80's, early 90's). My first pair of subs that I bought when I first started DJing were a pair of double 15's. They souded ok.. in my opinion, good as entry speakers for begginers. Their are definitley cheaper ways to go.. they are not the worst. I've seen them installed in some smaller clubs way back when.
NLFX Pro 07-24-2007, 05:52 PM I think Community is best known for their stadium and house of worship speakers. About half of the NFL and MLB stadiums in the country use Community, and they make some very upper end products. Most of what we have seen DJs using would be the TD2 (Tandem Drive) series. Sound good, very reliable, and lots of bass. However, they are not very efficient. They need LOTS of power to drive them. A TD212 driven with a PLX3102 ROCKS, put it over a sub and holy moly. We've installed hundreds and hundreds of these in clubs and other similar facilities. Including an install in Tokyo. Let me tell you... when you install something in Tokyo you do NOT want it to fail. LOL

Hey Chaos,
I don't think that you could have said it any better. You're right, they do get over looked by many DJ's.. why, I don't know. That's what I was trying to say. I used to see them displayed more in stores years ago. Maybe it's poor marketing now a days? I liked how they sounded. I forgot the model of the subs I had.. they were double 15's side by side. But now, I deal with mostly EAW. I also have a yorkville powerd sub for smaller jobs (ls800p). You can actually do some big jobs with that speaker as well.

Hey Ben, have you ever heard the sound systems in Mexico? They are unbelievable... especially in Cancun. They don't go cheap by any means. You can walk in to a shoe store in one of their malls, and they have JBL's hanging off the ceiling! And the clubs have amazing set ups.
