Carolyn 08-11-2006, 09:58 AM Hi Guys,
My name is Carolyn and my companies name is CD Entertainment Company.
Some of you probably know me from DJ Chat.
I have three teenage boys, the oldest is in college.
Became a DJ because of my love for music. I play the piano and keyboards and started playing in rock bands when I was 13. I came from a very musical family out of seven of us, five play an instrument.
I am really excited to be a part of this site! You guys are off to a great start!
Fred Stewart 08-11-2006, 10:11 AM Greets, Carolyn and welcome to the asylum. :D
Feel free to jump right in and post. There's a decent crew here and you are in good company.
Travis B 08-11-2006, 10:40 AM welcome aboard, we look forward to more of your posts and insights.
DJ Brian B 08-11-2006, 12:00 PM Welcome Carolyn, Nice to meet you!
I remeber you from djchat now!
:)
Jon Tuck 08-12-2006, 07:19 AM One thing in showing legitimacy having a DJ board. Having a token CHICK.....
Ha ha Carolyn j/k welcome to the funny farm.
Carolyn 08-12-2006, 12:50 PM Thanks Ed! I am pretty excited to be the token!
Fred Stewart 08-12-2006, 02:56 PM Traditionally, women DJs have been underrepresented on the mainstream forums. Jo Ann sure got a rude howdy do at DJ Chat...
For my part I'd like to see more female DJs contributing to the bbs forums. It ain't gonna happen when the ladies get run through the male ego wringer every time they post an opinion. :(
Anyone else remember Sher Robinson aka DJ Boom? She moderated a female DJs forum at DJ Chat some years ago. Sher is an experienced and knowlegable DJ... she got fed up with the male egos and finally threw in the towel. I haven't seen her online in years.
Perhaps this site can be another first ~ male ego-less. :)

I might have missed something, but any post of Jo Ann's, which I SKIMMED, by the way, had a scent of WOMENS' LIBERATION/DOWN WITH MEN.
And, at least some know that I was at least slightly perturbed by Stacy Zemon, who presented the attitude that we are all so ademantly opposed to.
I'm not saying that men are never to blame, but I think it works both ways.
DJ JohnThe1 08-12-2006, 10:17 PM I know a couple of female Club DJ's here in NY. They take the art of spinning quite seriously. I have a cousin that spins at 3 bars each weekend. She is awesome, she loves the life and when she is not spinning, she is running her restaurant. Her name is DJ Skai from Harlem. I love her and she loves the art of DJing... Keep up the good work ladies..

Not married, I see.

Not to hijack your thread Carolyn, but I like this idea. Seems the ladies need a nice place to hangout where they can talk about stuff that effects them, like creepy guys hitting on them at gigs. ;)
I'll go off in my little corner and ponder now. :)
Carolyn 08-13-2006, 01:08 PM Definately right about the weird guys...
I have had a couple of guys try to follow me home before
Dan I don't really think that there is very many female DJ's I may be wrong but I know locally here there maybe one other one. I know when I went to the convention in Vegas there were hardly any women. I am sure that you are right though I know that we have to deal with some different things.
I just have to tell you that the one of the things I love about here is that I feel accepted. I know that probably shouldn't matter if some sites were accepting of me or not but it is so nice to feel welcome. I don't mean to pull a Beaches thing on you guys but thank you.

But you did. :crybaby2:

Greetings from one of the newbies here!
I do recognize you from somewhere else...was it the French Riviera or maybe Cairo? LOL
Seriously, I've been here less than 24 hours and this forum feels like home (without the cats, of course).
