If you notice the search was for "free stock photos -royality". The reason being is many sites have royality free stock photos listed as a keyword but they still charge for the actual photos, they're just royality free meaning you don't have to pay for every use.

Always watch out for the little "gotchas" online, web searches tend to be the most misleading because people misrepresent their website via keywords thus the search engines results include spam.

Glad it helped. :) For more information on getting just what you want out of a search engine, check out this article Boolean search (http://library.albany.edu/internet/boolean.html).

Boolean search is an old technology although the major search engines still support it, because it's so simplistic and it just works. In short there are "search operators" that tell the engine what you want and don't want. The AND or + is rarely used anymore the search engine automatically include all the words you put in.

With the stock photos search, by using the string "stock photos -royality" I told Google, I wanted to see website which listed stock photos in their meta data without the world royality.

Quotes are also very useful. Let say I wanted to search for turntable artists. I'd enter "turntable artists" in the search box. This would give only results where the words turntable and artists appear next to each other and in that order. If I were to type turntable artists I'd get pages for both turntables and artists.

I hope that was easy to understand, I tend to ramble on sometimes. ;)

I could interchange the word "and" with a plus "+", and "Not" with a minus "-" in front of the search word?

Cool... very nice to know.

Yes, Sir. It saves a few key strokes and helps with long queries.
