I have started to think about this one. The average customer does not know a ton about sound equipment. Many cusomers know brand names as a good number of pro audio manufactures have made and still do make consumenr equipment.
I have accumulated a number of different setups over the past 3 years and I am in the process of a few more. I am considering letting the customer pick their prefured sound system. I am also considering making them differnt prices. While all my setups are sufficent for most rooms some may work better than others.
#1 JBL - 2 Eons and 2 JRX100 18" subs
#2 Mackie 2 SRM350's and 1 SWA1501 (I sold one)
#3 Turbosound 2 TXD 121 and 2 TXD 118
I'm putting together a new wedding system consiting of 2 QSC Isis I-282H and a Single HPR151 it's my version of a matrix system.
I'm also considering a PAS just cause a few people have asked if I have the Bose DJ system, and booked with someone who did.
So that would give my customers 5 choices JBL, Mackie, Turbosound, QSC, and Bose.
Is this a dumb idea?

I think you only way you could pull it off was if you did offer the Bose as an upgrade. Bose has done all the marketing, you can reap the benefits ;)

I think you'll be adding the the confusion if you offer this choice to a customer. I'd alter your sound system to the number of guests, rather than the name on the speaker.

If you need assistance with that Bose system, let me know.
The reality is i think it may be confusing to the customer to use all those brand names.
You could offer an upgrade to your regular system for the people that want it.

Just my opinion:
"I don't think the average customer is concerned about the "brand", just what you do with the brand".
Yes, there are exceptions and I'm speaking in very general terms.

There's a lot of truth to this.
Your average client most likely won't care about logo plates. It's all in what you do with what you have as Kirby says.
That said, you have a point. People love to see pictures. Take some good, high res photos of your various system setups and make 'em available for client viewing. Pretty pictures can make a world of difference in sales presentations. :)
The L1 system is attracting attention due to its aesthetics. The Bose logo doesn't hurt, true... but the logo isn't visible from a distance. Before you invest in the L1, ensure that the market is there to cover your investment.
Hope it helps.

the other challenge with giving people "too many" choices is giving them something else to "think it over".
I think most people want an expert to tell them that they have the sound system that will fit their needs.
If i was going to do something like this, I would make sure i could put in easy to understand terms the difference between the systems and what situation each system is geared for and be ready to reccomend the system i think should be used for that customer.

Just curious here.........
why the need for so many systems?..wouldn't one system that can be expanded on suffice?..or would a pas system fullfill all requirements?
just puttin' in 2 centavos worth

I have upgraded over the years.
I do not sell equipment as a rule you never know when you might need it.
It is also nice to be albe to leave a system in a bar if needed when booked 2 consective days. Sometimes I have day time booking so there is the need for 2 systems. Then when I send out another person that makes need for 3 systems.
I also gives me different systems for different needs.
My Turbosound system is more of a teen / bar system as it is the most powerful.
The JBL I keep for outdoors and as a secondary bar system, I don't care if anything happens to it.
The Mackie I use for smaller events and as ceremony speakers.
The QSC and Bose will be my 2 wedding systems.
I'm expanding and starting to book 2 events a day now. I also have 6 bars we service in the mix now, with more to follow. I need a 3rd DJ
