I have a question, how do you go about asking, prior to booking or initial meeting what the ethnic background of the B&G is and what the majority of guests will be. Many of my events are set up over the email and face to face meetings are not always possible. This was an issue last night. An italian guy was getting married and to my suprise when I sdrive 90 m,iles to the rehearsal everyone but ther groom was black. Really through me off.

I always ask if they have any special needs musically. Ethnic music, all country, etc.

If they say they need some ethnic music, it's a dead giveaway.

A wedding is a personal thing. I don't know how anyone could book a reception without a face to face. I certainly would not.

That aside, you should include a statement of some sort on you web site. Mine states the following regarding this topic:

Although I do own a fair amount of various ethnic recordings, my music collection and knowledge of music, mainly consist of mainstream American radio play spanning the past 75 years or so. Other music, such as Folk, Irish, Italian, Reggae, Latin, etc., is something I have had little exposure to outside of my experience as a DJ. As I do not consider myself to be a strong performer in this area, I will not contract functions greatly depending on music of this nature.

THANK YOU.

I usually do have the face to face, and I had met with the groom. I work with him and we spoke about many of the issues, I mjust had not met the bride. Our conversations were via email and phone calls.

I just ask what the ethnic, racial, religous and age make up of the party is, then I know.

Nothing worse than kicking off a wedding reception and finding out half the guest are Menonite.
