That seems to be the general consensus Dan (I'm not too fond of it either). But unfortunately, at this point in time it's a necessary evil. It's the only place I can put my availability checker and client login. I'm going to contact my host and see if I can add some links to my contact page for those and eliminate the intro page altogether.

For the kind of site you're doing, if you have some extra time you'd probably be better off doing it yourself. Once you get the hang of it, it's really not that hard.

Rebelliousness?

Don't mind me.

While I don't think you have to wear a tux to look "professional", I think that you should at least smile and have your hands out of your pockets.

But we are rebels, anyway.

Possibly given the basic layout of your site use a frame for navigation.

I just added stuff to the tops of my pages. And I have all kinds of things all over all the other pages. However, I think my site is well organised. I want it to reflect my DJ personality. I want it to be "different". I want it to be somewhat "interactive" on a personal level. I want it to be informative. I want it to be transparent. I want the pages to scroll. And I want it to be cool.

I really only want to know the things that you think are REALLY STUPID and the things that you think are REALLY COOL.

Thanks, brothers and chicas.

This..The Freshness was fresh...er fine

Each song that is on our menu has at least one of the following credentials:
1) it has been requested during the last three years;
2) it has been approved by our guests during the last three years;
3) it is a new "hit" that is still on probation.

A song is NOT on our menu if it has at least one of the following characteristics:
1) it has NOT been requested during the last three years;
2) it has NOT been approved by ANY of our guests during the last three years;
3) its probation period has EXPIRED.

I will never serve "stale" hits at your party--I will simply keep those thousands and thousands of "forgotten" songs preserved in my pantry, just in case somebody ever wants to taste them again*. I do not brag about bringing EVERY song to your party; instead, I promise to bring ALL the songs that are still relevant to real people (not just the industry's executives).

we also added a 24/7 all beat mixed radio show to the site to keep people coming back, not sure if its going to work but i guess ill find out and lastly we added a forum, this is more for the students to come back and talk about there dance back we got somethings up there about wedding and so on

sorry i should of been a little more clear, the photo page that has the password system is only on the school photo page (its for the students to use,) a lot of schools are banning pix at dances because only one can view them, this way only the people that know the password can. i know its not fool proof but its still better then no password and the schools like the idea.

one thing we do, do for the wedding is broadcast the speech's live over the internet so guest that can't make it to the wedding can at least hear it. (you need a password for that too), so not just anyone can listen to it.

well I'm into it for around $10000 or so but i got a server in house and had to get a T1 line, the software ran around $500 with all the updates and because i do live feeds i needed another laptop with a high speed wireless card
but i think you can start one up for i bet free if you know what your doing and only have 5 to 10 listeners at a time but i had no clue so i paid a guy to get me started. i also can have up to 400 people at a time on the high speed and i think 150 on the low speed.

As for my web site, it's www.mountainsoundsdj.com (http://mountainsoundsdj.com/). I'll probably re-design it after I get my logo re-done.

One thing I'd like to point out about my logo and The Logo company, from start to finish it took about 4 weeks which I didn't think was too bad considering everything was done by email.

During the process once the general design was decided,The Logo Company always gave me several design variations at each stage where I could mix and match the variations toward the final design or I could reject the tweaks and suggest something else.

They were very accommodating and patient as we went through the process. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

Madness, sometimes simplicity is best :) look at google verses yahoo

Suggestions, try a popout menu to condense pages down, your mainpage is too wordy IMO with seperate paragraphs, you can condense to a few pages, such as the mission statement, etc, etc

I was just thinking about that with the pages to wordy. I am going to try and condense them down or make additional pages.

What do you mean by a pop out menu? I use freewebs That have set templates that you can manipulate to your needs. So I may be kind of limited in what I do. :sqconfused:

I try to keep most demos short, I havent watched that one in a long time, I;d like to say its only 3 minutes.

Yeah, 5 minutes is excessive. I dont know what I was thinking when I put it together. I use that same demo on a DVD. I've booked alot of people by having it but I dont know if they actually watch it. I usually give it to them during a counseltation.

OK,

Have been getting a lot of hits on my web site according to my stats, more than I was a year ago, but am still getting about the same volume of calls. I have made some changes to the site recently and was looking for some broad ranging feedback, good or bad. Please have a look see and if you would like to share some constructive ideas and or criticism, please feel free to do so.

Please keep in mind that I was not looking for a traditional "Cookie Cutter" business web site. I wanted it to be a pinch unconventional and say "Were serious but fun at the same time"... Please point out anything you think from your experience might be scaring prospective clients off. I'm wondering if the "About Us" page might be a wii over the top

BTW, although I am proficient at Flash, I have opted not include a ton of flash elements in my web site design by choice... OK Let er' rip!

Right of the Top of my Head (I didn't read other posts yet)
1st Look of Site, Use of Colours, Black & White (Classy)
Photos, Not too much text.

At first Visit of your Site I thought the

Weddings
Corporate & Events
etc,

On the Right of the Logo were just What you Did
I was unaware that they were Links (Didn't see the scrolling Text)
I didn't like this section for Links
Now after Clicking on all the Links Maybe having two in total
One for Weddings & the other for 'Other' Events

The About Us, Photo Gallery, etc, links need to be the full length of the words
not just the Radial Buttons.

No Home Link anywhere! I know that I can click on your Logo (Do Others)?

Tell me what you think...or not...whatever you like.

Important to note:

The background WILL remain BLACK...and the YOU page is staying; therefore, any mention of those things will entice my to shout, "LA-LA LA-LA LA-LA LA-LA," to myself in front of my monitor.

DJ Snap, May I offer some suggestions that I see which may help you in completing your design, please do not get offended, this is just constructive criticism from one professional designer to another.

a) lose the grey behind your logo, complexity makes things harder to read on web pages, more specifically users without high colors like us fortunate users.
b) Your photo which is below your text in the body is hard to view, even on a LCD screen, it makes it look like something got smeared on by accident. To me I'd remove it.
c) the reflection in the header takes away from the text above, I'd remove it.

And now moving to your other site:
http://www.websnapdesign.com/

a) Times new roman is too common of a font
b) The powered by isn't something that is needed. Unless your hosting provider says you have to. BTW I do hosting, and do not require clients to do that.

I understand you are still working on that site, if you need any help or pointers please let me know and I'll be glad to give my insight.

a) lose the grey behind your logo, complexity makes things harder to read on web pages, more specifically users without high colors like us fortunate users.This is something I have debated on a bunch. I might consider this being that you aren't the first to suggest it.
b) Your photo which is below your text in the body is hard to view, even on a LCD screen, it makes it look like something got smeared on by accident. To me I'd remove it.Another one of those that I have debated and honestly decided to remove, just forgot to do it. I'm used to seeing it, so it just got overlooked.
c) the reflection in the header takes away from the text above, I'd remove it.This I will have to constructively disagree with you on. I feel the reflection brings attention to the text which was the point because it contains our phone number.

And now moving to your other site:

-TravisThere is no need to even begin to critique this site. I haven't purchased hosting yet. This page was free with the purchase of the domain. It's a template that is available through yahoo and all I did was fill in the text. This is nowhere near a design I would even work with. It was the best they had available at the time.

I don't know how it will look, if anything Why not make it 3D looking by having the reflection on the Z-axis instead of the Y-AxisIt's a designer preference that's all I can say. I did go in and make a couple of adjustments to make it a bit cleaner. Thanks for your suggestions about the backgrounds on the logo and content section of the home page.

Don't take this as a "he's not willing to budge type thing". I just don't feel that it's a design flaw. If I were working on someone else's site, it would be a different story.

www.platinumsound.biz (http://www.platinumsound.biz) knardini, great looking site, question have you played around with a black to grey gradient going from top to bottom and see how that looks, while keeping that middle table white or off white?
