Ok so I'm about getting ready to rip my music library, couple of questions to the guru's:

What software to use to rip and to edit ID3 Tags?

Would I just rip everything to one folder?
I will be using the HD2500 as a starter for this, I'm assuming the their music manager will allow me to edit play lists.

Any information will be appreciated.

It has been suggested by many from the community (and me) to use AudioGrabber with an ASPI driver to rip CD's in quickly. You can google it and find it easily.

Ahhh, feel free to check out the FREE, yes FREE, AudioGrabber download and tutorial, that yours truly wrote (unless it doesn't work, then Dan wrote it) :)

Audiograbber rocks - my favorite, too. I also use MP3Tag to check or change, well, MP3 tags (it has a nice, easy-to-use interface) and MP3Gain to normalize my music to a semi-uniform audio level. Both are also freeware.

thanks for the info.

And again excuse my ignorance, all I know about riping music is using Itunes.

So do I create one folder and rip everything to it? or do I create seperate folders for each category?

What software do you use? I'll admit, I'm not familiar with professional DJ software - I'm a computer geek & karaoke host.

In my hosting software, I filter my MP3 categories by genre. I *could* put everything in one folder/directory, but I divide my music by decade (drive\music\70's) or genre (drive\music\rock). I divide my karaoke music by manufacturer and sub-number (drive\karaoke\sc8100, drive\karaoke\sc8200, etc). I hope that makes sense - it's how my singers bring up their karaoke requests.

Basically, I rip my music to a single directory, like c:\music. (Yep, I use Windoze.) After it's "ripped," I use MP3Tag to edit the Genre tag if it's not right. I then use MP3Gain to "normalize" my music (make sure it's the same volume level). Then, I copy the music to the directory that seems the most logical to me.

Bottom line - use whatever makes sense to you. If you feel like you're taking too much time to remember where a certain song is, it isn't right for you.

Media Monkey is another alternative.

Free version is limited, but the Gold has more features (and costs).

I ripped my whole library with Easycd DA extractor. Several thousand songs and only 1 bad rip in the bunch

And, since YOU use this I know it is ok for computer dummies! I am one too!

Thanks, I think...:sqconfused::sqerr::sqrolleyes:

I will say that it's not as fast as AudioGrabber though.

Not a fan of Audiograbber..... I had some wierd things happening when I used it, though I don't remember what they were.
