I just returned home after what was probably one of my best ever school events. As part of the freshman orientation at our high school, they planned a big pep rally and dance in the gym at the end. I arrived on site at about 8am and we set up in about 2 hours with one setback being that we had to move our truss back so the janitors could cover the gym floor with a tarp-like thing so it didnt get scratched. The hottest songs were A Bay Bay, 2 Step and Big Things Poppin' (Do It). I was pleased with the visual aspect of our system as I tried something new by placing a set of 10" tops on top of the truss which has 1 3/8 tips and since i had lightweight lights on the truss, it weighed in perfectly to add the speakers on top, making for a darn cool truss.

Gear List:
2 JBL EONG2 15"
1 Mackie SWA1501
1 Gemini XTR-400 system
4 ADJ Big Shot Strobes
2 Lyte Quest moonflowers
1 Chauvet Vue 3

Used in the rack:
AA DCD Pro-240
AA DCD Pro-1000
Numark CM-100
Chauvet SF-9005
SHURE PGX-24/SM-58

Here are some pictures. Sorry for the quality on some, the lighting behind me KILLED me when it came to taking good pics. The full setup pic is the only real bad one. And yes the cable on the truss was tied back prior to the start of the event. I ran short on setup time and just snapped when i was close to done.

I see you have a homemade i-beam skirt. I recommend hemming the bottom and remove the fringes.

Also, remember that the light show is always less impressive when you're on the dance floor. Point that VUEIII at the ceiling or walls... let the patterns be seen... otherwise they're just blinking lights.

A good light show paints all 6 walls in the room.

I agree too. The skirt is something that i actually did the day of the gig. I'd like to order one from PSSL or DJSkirts.com sometime soon. Overall however it improved the look more than not having it at all. The lights made a decent impact in the gym and the center hit the dancefloor with the other patterns hitting the walls. being that it was morning/early afternoon, we did have a decent amount of light that came through the doors behind me but it didnt affect the floor too much.

Cool Carolina, When you'd get the strobes... One of my competitors/friends here locally had 8 big shot strobes... I am weary to get some due to kids getting seizsures. One school is really strict on flashing/moving lights unfortunately.

I agree with moving the Vue's to a wall or ceiling....they are useless unless on a large flat surface. I've been pointing both of mine at either the far wall, the ceiling (if it's not full of beams) or yesterday I placed them both about 2 feet away from the back wall pointing placing the center LED pattern about half way up the wall. They filled the wall and made for a cool backdrop.

Good job with weekday AND daytime $!
