J. Geils band.... did you ever play....

Ain't Nuthin' But A House Party at an event? If, so, how did it go over?

For my upcoming ( next ) wedding, the bride has given me the green light to play some songs that are outside the norm..... this is one I REALLY want to try.

This is one of the rare songs that I would use the live version. It has so much energy - more than the studio version.

I can't use it to open the dance floor, but I sure wish I could. It has Peter Wolf, in a really cool voice saying "We're Gonna Blow Your Face Out!"..... and the band is just absolutely on fire!

My Personal Preference for this song would be the original 1967 Version by the Showstoppes...It was a hit single that received a fair amount of airplay.

I play Wammer Jammer at outdoor festivals....

I must have seen the J. Geils Band 20 times in their heyday! That's a great song, especially the live version.

Frankly, I don't think it will work as a primary dancing song, but I'd probably try it as well. I'm sure you'll get several guys coming up to you with the "I haven't heard that song in years line".

It would be great if everyone rushed to the dance floor though! :sqcool:

Me either, but the bride said feel free to just play some songs that people will enjoy, and that not every sone has to make people dance..

Haven't played an "older" J. Geils song in over 25 years. The youngsters only know their "pop" stuff like Centerfold and most aren't aware of what an incredible rock band they were.

Gonna have to look through and see what I've got of their older stuff. I think I have a 2 CD compilation, somewhere.....:sqconfused:

my older brother got me hooked on them when i was younger...another benefit of having 9 older siblings.....great music.

"musta got lost" is a great one too.

This goes WAAAY back, but "First I look At The Purse" and "Southside Shuffle", which is on the same CD as "House Party". Those boys were one kick-ass rock band! :guitar::listen:

Another great band from the DC, Maryland, Virginia area was The Nighthawks, still kickin' it live. We saw them 2 years ago and I actually know them from a club that I worked in 30 years ago.

Now old on a second, this is a song about desperation, every now and then we do get desprate,,, It's a song about L.O.V.E. and if you abuse it your going to lose it, and if you lose it you aren't gonna be able to choose it, and you aren't goona have father down the line, things aren't gonna be so fine. You'll be sitting there on you little machine trying to keep it clean looking at your telephone and you know she ain't gonna call you...

So you turn on the tv watching Johnny Carson sequay into the Late show, but the Late Show don't got the go so you turn it off and you turn on the radio, the radio don't seem to click so you say hey man I can't lickety split and you say.....
