Website Tweaking

OK folks......I've been doing some tweaking on my website (http://www.kickit-productions.8k.com). I am always open for constructive criticism. Before you post about the wordiness of what you find on the site though, please understand that I designed the site myself, and it was designed after listening to what my customers tell me - "The more information I have about a company, the more comfortable I feel about spending my money with them"

I would appreciate your comments.

**be gentle - we're friends here**:sqwink:

Most of your business comes from weddings, right? Then why would you advertise Divorce Parties on the home page? Or anywhere for that matter? Have a general Parties link if you want but get it off of their quick! Talk about a sure fire way to turn a bride off...

Damn! Thanks for pointing that out! I meant to put that on another page of the site.
I completely overlooked that. (It's late and I'm sleep deprived)

And as for the reason for the Divorce Parties idea - why not? The divorce rate here in the south is pretty high and the average education level is a high school diploma and the average median income is $35,000.00 (at least in this market).

People here find any reason to have a party, and if it's something that appeals to that particular segment of the population and they are willing to pay for it, I figure why not? Divorce parties seem to be gaining a lot of popularity here.

Thanks again Maestro.

No worries, glad you didn't take it the wrong way. I just didn't want to see you shoot yourself in the foot. I've made some pretty big mistakes myself updating my website or sending emails when I should be sleeping...

Hi Greg,

I see a few things off the bat. I cheated and viewed the source of your page.

No meta tags (this basically tells search spiders what your site is about) More information (http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=2167931)

I'd trying using h1 tags for your navigation. More info (http://www.web-design-book.com/2007/01/14/should-i-use-h1-tags-in-my-website/)
Typically H1 tags tell the browser to display text in a larger size which in turn makes people and spiders pay more attention it. Now a days the h1 tag is used by SEOs to make search spiders pay more attention to the text often times without changing the size, font, and so on.
Your images could use some alt & title text.
Alt text is what the search spiders see since they don't download and cannot read pictures like humans. It's something often missed by new webmasters it's a great opportunity to throw some extra keywords in. In most modern browsers the title text is displayed when someone mouses over the image. more info (http://www.thunderdata.com/wiki/Main/ImgAlt)

I didn't really go over the text that much.. Just look at the way I write, I'm not a great proof reader. :D

Other than that I like the site, do a little bit of SEO (search engine optimization) and you'll be good to go :)

I've done some more tweaking on the website - this time on the Useful Links page.

Thanks Dan for your helpful suggestions. I am still working on the Meta tags.

Here is the link for the particular page I updated:

I've never seen my website using FireFox, so I have no idea what you are talking about. I've only used Internet Explorer.

More website tweaking - I added a Testimonials (http://www.kickit-productions.8k.com/testimonials.html) page. I also added an H1 tag to each page in order for it to stand out on the search bar. I think I did this correctly. Dan I could use some feedback from you on the subject.

Well after much prodding by certain people, I finally decided to add my picture to the home page of my website. I don't know if it will help or hinder. Time will tell.

Thanks to those of you (and you know who you are) that encouraged me to do this.

Just so this gets bumped back up to the top, I've done just a little more tweaking on the home page of my website (http://kickit-productions.com/index.html) that now includes a custom made video that I spent close to 4 days making.

Comments are welcome, but not necessary.

Thanks!

hey........everything looks pretty good to me....except the individual page links (at the top) seem to run into one another.

One of them, "Preferred & Non-Preferred Venues" runs across two lines--- it would look better if they were started on the 2nd line.

Matt - you're using Firefox or some other browser, I bet. I'm using IE 7.0 and it looks fine to me. Besides, that template is pre-designed and I have no way to fix what you mentioned, unless I shortenend the title to that particular page.

I got your PM about the recepricol links. Lemme think on that for awhile.
