Alright... I've got the music, I've got the audio equipment, I've got the lighting.:sqcool:

School dances are my target event... I know I'll always suck to someone with this audience... I set my sights high.:sqwink:

Anyway I need advice on how much mic work to do, and any suggestions on what to say.:sqerr:

Seems like there's a fine line between hype man to get the party started, and get the F*** off the mic already.:sqconfused:

It depends on what type of DJ you want to be coupled with your personality. I'm decent on the mic with crowd interaction but tend to follow the rule that less is better on the mic (especially at a wedding reception). If you click the mic on make sure there is a reason for it and don't stay on too long. Let the music selection and mixing make your dances great. After a couple dozen gigs you will settle into your style of crowd interaction. In the meantime, try things out...see what works and what doesn't...and grow into a professional.

Good luck

At schools, you can work the hype!!

class yells, guys/girls yell,,,,, shout outs.....

It just depends on what you feel comfortable doing...

I think you can talk more at middle schools than high schools.....
