Folks,

The new Country single by Chuck Wicks, Stealing Cinderella looks to be a decent Father/Daughter dance tune. Not a waltz (it's in 4/4 time) but is a beautiful song and slow dance. :)

As I understand, the single is slated to be released this week. It's already on Itunes.

Chuck is a local pup, grew up in Smyrna, DE. :)

I came to see her daddy for a sit down man to man
It wasn't any secret I'd be asking for her hand
I guess that's why he left me waiting in the living room by myself
with at least a dozen pictures of her sitting on a shelf

- Chorus -

She was playing Cinderella
She was riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes I'm Prince Charming
But to him I'm just some fella
riding in and stealing Cinderella

I leaned in towards those pictures to get a better look at one
When I heard a voice behind me say "Now, ain't she something, son?"
I said "Yes, she quite a woman"
and he just stared at me
Then I realized that in his eyes she would always be

Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes I'm Prince Charming
But to him I'm just some fella
riding in and stealing Cinderella

He slapped me on the shoulder
Then he called her in the room
When she threw her arms around him
That's when I could see it too

She was playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
If he gives me a hard time
I can't blame the fella
I'm the one who's stealing Cinderella

Fred:

Just gave this a listen to for the first time tonight. Nice, tune.

It's on Prime Cuts Weekly HP200736 for the week 09/07/07 (Track 12) also.

Thanks,

Kirby

I played it for a bride the day you posted it. I went on Itunes and bought it. She'll probably be using it. Thanks, Fred!

My pleasure... happy to help.

The track was released on CDX vol. 429, August as well. I had the CD setting on my desk but hadn't really paid much attention to it until I read a blurb in the local fishwrapper about the artist.

I figgered... what's come out of Delaware since George Thorogood? I gave it a listen. Glad I did. :)

Chatted with the bride for a few tonight. She loves the song and wants it for her F/D dance. :)

Honestly, these folks are a true pleasure to work with. The bride's attitude is "I want this to be different, something nobody else does" (read not a cookie-cutter reception show) and "You pick out some music that you think we'll like."

My friends, weddings don't get better than this. :)
