Carolyn 09-20-2006, 05:48 AM I just had postcards made for Holiday Company parties this year. They did a good job and they were inexpensive. This company gives you the option of creating yourself or using their templates. I bought 100 for $24.95 the backside for an additional $9.99. The shipping is depending on how fast you want them. I believe the least expensive was $6.00. www.vistaprint.com

I just requested a sample packet from them Basic...hope it doesn't take too long to get it. I've always bought my cards locally but I think I'm spending way too much $$

Let me know how it goes.
Carolyn 12-12-2006, 08:55 AM I booked two parties out of 50 postcards. Thanks for asking Dawg. So the investment paid for itself.
I went with Vista print because I want to try different layouts. 1,0000 postcards is alot of cards I just wanted to try 100 to see how the card I designed worked. Definately more than paid for itself.
Fred Stewart 12-13-2006, 07:10 AM We have our biz cards done by www.flyerfaucet.com. $85.00 for 1000 full color cards.

patrickrlewis 12-18-2006, 01:08 PM I used vistaprint for all my biz cards, and still use them for my personal phone cards and note cards. High quality product at a reasonable price
PeteT 12-18-2006, 01:47 PM I've always found Vista Print's quality good - but customer service lacking.
One order on custom business cards ($95 order for 1000 cards) they lost the cards 3 times and wanted to charge me a rush fee to reprint. Another order they tricked me into some office services membership.
I'd use them again - but will give it A LOT more time and be extra vigilent.
djdawg 12-22-2006, 08:43 AM Pretty wide variety in pricing...of course the more you buy the better the deal.
Best deal I've found so far - of all the companies we've spoken about - is America's Printer. 4/4 UV both sides PLUS 16 pt stock (seems to be the heaviest of the bunch) $59.00 for 2500 of them plus $15 shipping to me.
Professor Jam 01-06-2007, 07:36 AM Carolyn,
The next time you need something "as a DJ and Friend" phone me personally.
You paid $34.94 for 100 that would be $349.40 for 1,000 - That is more than my 5,000 price with UV coating, actually its more than double my price and its llesser quality than my product.

Carolyn 01-06-2007, 05:50 PM Hi Jam,
I will try your services next time I promise. :sqwink:
This was just an experiment on my part, didn't have any desire to purchase more than 100, and honestly it was only $35.00, not like it was a huge investment. Not a big deal.

They have Full Color, Double Sided (You Can add your logo on the back) and glossy!...For $45 for I think 500...
My cards came in 2 days!
Valerie Ruste 01-06-2007, 08:58 PM Call Jam. They do a fantastic job and the quality is only limited by the artwork you give them--the materials are fantastic! Standard turn-around time to me is generally less than a week; you can get faster service if needed. I have no reason to shop elsewhere.

5000 printed both sides front & back with UV from them is $210.99
Did you check my cost? Same and better quality compare my prices - I'm a DJ and I support the industry - Why should anyone buy from me when you can pay double and tripple elsewhere... lol

I know I'm razzing you Carolyn.
Bounce,
I know - I just wanted to make sure individuals were familiar with the company I own. I started the company over ten years during an event for MTV and ESPN, I was speaking to one of the event sponsors and asked if I could purchase wholesale, bulk printing via a brokerage program for our industry? I wanted to make it so DJs, US, the high-end professional DJs, could purchased high quality printing like larger corporations for a polished professional look - Seeing how I was professionally endorsed and knew so many DJs he set up the program with me.
During that time it cost $199 for 5,000 coated business cards, that was the standard rate at the time and was considered a great deal. As a brokerage program the purchase was not limited to DJs only, many nightclubs and restaurants jumped into the program with thousands of other type business building the bulk purchase power of the program. The result was I exceeded the minimum expectations of the print house and as I reached each goal, the master rate dropped - I could have maintained the industry standard rate like Office Depot, pocketing the increased revenue, however, as the bulk purchase power grew, the discount was passed down to my clients. Over the years many jumped onto the brokerage bandwagon, offering false promises, poor customer service and all failed. At present I'm the only individual the company maintains a brokerage bulk-purchase program with.
If you read Mobile Beat and DJ Times you may have noticed some printing companies offering the same product at two different prices - My rates are the same no matter if you are a Mobile DJ or Club DJ - You will see some offering for a limited time prices equal to or lower than mine - only to pop back to an average higher than mine after a short time. My prices are consistent.
When I see individuals promoting Vista and other lower quality products (I would never require a fellow DJ to have my advertisement on the back of their business card NEVER!") I have a tag-line that goes on nightclubs and other corporate business that cost $25 if they want it removed, fellow DJs have never been required to pay such a fee. For the cost of my printing you get Full-Color - Front & Back printed on a multi-million dollar press - You can add a filth color like metallic gold or silver and even neon ink colors all with free aqueous coating or you can add UV. When it comes to advice and design you get my personal feed-back and advice - What is that worth? Call John & Debbie Price owners of PowerPlay DJ service at 785-629-8331 - They were using a self proclaimed Marketing For DJ guru and now had us develop a complete marketing champagne for them - or Mike Fernino owner of Music In Motion 800 321-7551 who has used us for over twenty printing and design projects - Ask them the advantages of utilizing a successfully DJ to help with marketing.
I have a vested interest and my opinions are biased.
One thing I noticed while browsing this thread was that people kept saying "cards," but there were two kinds mentioned:
Business cards and post cards.
This would make a difference in price!
Just thought I would point that out to make sure others noticed also...
Tyrone Blue 01-07-2007, 08:40 AM Do you do brochures too? Or, 8X10 promo prints? Posters?
Professor Jam 01-07-2007, 04:26 PM Do you do brochures too? Or, 8X10 promo prints? Posters?
Yes when you log into the shoppng cart select brochures and the size you want. Many individuals that want to stand out above other local companies have them brinted on 12pt card stock with UV coating instead on the 100lb paper stock. You should look at barrel fold.

My price and Quality still beats Vista Prints even for post cards. I also don't charge to remove any advertisment from postcards like them also.
Thanks For Bringing that up.

I just wanted it to be clear to everyone that it wasn't necessarily apples-to-apples (regarding the business / post cards.)
I've used Vistaprint for most of my things in the past, but will consider you next time. I do think, to be fair to Vista though, that it should be mentioned that really the only cards with their advertising on the back are the "free" ones where you just pay for shipping. In all fairness, since they are "free" (I know, I'm sure the ship/handle covers more than shipping) that they certainly have the right to put their tag on the back. Any of the actual card packages that I've seen anyway do not come with that.
I am in no way trying to compete them against you, and as far as who's is a better deal or quality I didn't even compare that yet  I'm not trying to step on your toes!
My main complaint with Vista is that their cards are about 1/16" shorter in height than a normal business card, and I can't for the life of me figure out why they would want to remain non-standard!
Just my .02.

DougF 01-08-2007, 08:30 PM Jam IS the Man for your printing!!!!
DJ Snap 02-01-2007, 05:38 AM Just did our local Bridal Fair and used VistaPrint for all the materials. Here's the list
100 brochures - 100lb, aqueous coating, 4 color both sides
500 biz cards - 80lb card stock, glossy 4 color front, matte b/w back
100 standard post cards - 80lb card stock, glossy 4 color front, matte b/w back
All of it looked great. Quality was excellent, but I did all the design work. Total price for everything was just over $150.00. This is the 3rd year I have used VistaPrint. I have never had one quality issue, which was my fault, and they gave me a credit for it. The quality has always been great. Their customer service can use some improvement, but it's getting better.
Carolyn,...You paid $34.94 for 100 that would be $349.40 for 1,000...Actually Jam, their price for 1000 would be $125. She would be able to have gotten 5000 for $350.
This is another one of those, 'No single one is the best one' deals. Some people have success with VistaPrint, some don't. I like what they have done for me and will continue to use them. But that's ME.
Professor Jam 02-01-2007, 06:08 AM Actually Jam, their price for 1000 would be $125. She would be able to have gotten 5000 for $350
OK - We print on high quality 12pt card stock (not 80lb paper stock) we print 4-color front & 4-color back (we also offer 5th color also which is neon and metalic inks)
Here is what my rates are for her:
1/4 Page 4.25x5.5 4/4 12pt Card
Qty--------------------Price
2500-------------------$135.00
5000-------------------$175.00
7500-------------------$270.00
10000------------------$341.50
For the 5,000 she would get from them on 80lb paper stock for $350 she could spend less and get 10,000 from me on better quality 12pt card stock ;o)
I asked prior for someone to send me a sample and I never got it - Send me a sample.
DJ Snap 02-01-2007, 06:16 AM We can trade samples. You send me one. I'll do the same for you. But, you can order a free pack from VP and the postcards are included.
Professor Jam 02-01-2007, 06:40 AM I'm more interested in seeing your material and sending you something that is along the same look as yours.
DJ Snap 02-01-2007, 04:15 PM PM me your address and I will send you what I have from them.

I'll get it in the mail right away...
