Another Installment of "Biased Opinions R Us" :sqerr:
Getting closer to being caught up.
1.) Message To Myself – Melissa Etheridge
Parts of this song remind me of early Beatles. Good job Melissa, very enjoyable tune.
2.) Almost Lover – A Fine Frenzy
I want to call this song “Is it Almost Over?” I felt like a heroin addict, getting ready to nod off.
3.) Fire And Rain – Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds
Yes, James Taylor’s song. Kenny does a nice job, staying true to the original but giving just a little of his touch without veering too far away. The piano part was very nice. Very pleasant cover.
4.) So Uncool – Lucy Walsh
Thought at time, she was trying to sound like Avril without the guitar. I don’t think we’ll have to worry about this one skyrocketing to the top of the charts.
5.) Now That You Got It – Gwen Stefani Feat. Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley
Nope, Gwen I don’t think this one’s “Got It”. You’re putting out too much sub-par music, slow down the releases.
6.) Roc-a- Fella Billionaires – Freeway Feat. Jay-Z
Ok, rappers should not be allowed to use the word “Gucci” anymore. Put your head in the gas oven for this one and get it over real quick.
7.) Rock Star – R. Kelly Feat. Ludacris & Kid Rock
Hand be a barf-bag.
8.) I’m So Hood – DJ Khaled Feat. T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Plies & Rick Ross
Takes all these guys to put out a piece of garbage like this? Let’s move on, shall we?
9.) Just Got Started Lovin’ You – James Otto
Nice voice, but this is more of a pop song than a Country song using a Fender Rhodes piano and Hammond B-3, oh yeah and a pedal steel to give it a sort of country song. Actually the song is very catch, but it’s gone nowhere on the charts around here.
10.) Laughed Until We Cried – Jason Aldean
Jason’s last two releases have been rowdy songs “Hicktown” & “Johnny Cash”, so I guess he needed to release a buckle-polisher. I prefer his up-tempo material over this.
11.) Power Of One – Bomshel
Totally different than their novelty hit “Bomshel Stomp” this is one of those introspective Country songs. Kind of a depressing sound overall.
12.) That’s The Way (My Love Is) – Smashing Pumpkins
Never quite got the “excitement” over Billy & The Pumpkins. Drums are awesome, guitar is pretty nice, the singing leaves a lot to be desired, song is very ho-hum.
13.) 3’S & 7’S – Queens Of The Stone Age
Very interesting, kind of a heavy “retro-sound.” Sounds kind of late 60’s. I have a disc by them and I don’t quite remember this sound. I guess I’ll have to go back and check it out. It’s a little odd sounding at times, but I’ll give credit for not “growling” through the song.
14.) So Hott – Kid Rock
Starts of with a nice “dirty” guitar riff that’s all rock and roll and would make AC/DC proud. Kid, stay away from the rap and stick with the rock and country-rock. Another turn it up loud, real loud.
15.) Rise Today – Alter Bridge
Another song that I’d put in the pretty good rock category. Real drums and guitars!
16.) The Larger Bowl – Rush
Never thought of Rush as a “singles” kind of group. Although I like the band and the song is played well, I just don’t care for this release.
17.) Let Me Think About It – (Fedde Le Grand Radio Edit) – Ida Corr
Hmmm, Let me think about it…ok I did. Just didn’t do a thing for me. Bored me silly.
18.) White Lies – Paul Van Dyk Feat. Jessica Sutta
Yes, this definitely grabbed my attention right away. Reminds me a bit of Berlin, and that can’t be bad (except for “Take My Breath Away”). Good dance tune.
19.) Captivated – Shawn McDonald
Dreamy sound, but not real memorable.
20.) Let’s Go Back – Everyday Sunday
Hmmm….closest I can come to this one. Think Christian All-American Rejects. Very peppy number and definitely a posterior mover.
AC - 1-3
CHR - 4&5
URBAN - 5-8
COUNTRY - 9-11
ROCK - 12-16
DANCE - 17 & 18
CHRISTIAN - 19 & 20
