I'm looking at some rack changes....
Looking to put a rack PC, furman Power condition and wireless mic receiver in this.....I want to stack a Gator 10x6 slant case on top...It weighs about 60lbs in all.....
Any issues that you see. Will the rack case support it?
Thanks

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't support it.... I use a SKB 12U rack, no wheels though.... and that would be my only concern.

These are the plastic cases, not wood based which is why I ask,,,i like the idea of the pull out handle and wheels on them.....

Steve,
Talk with Cap, he's using plastic cases if I'm not mistaken, I think SKB's.

Steve Gator cases are top of line, they are made out of a military spec plastic.
I have two cases that sit in a garage when its -30 degrees F and are banged around in the back of my van,in three years I have had 0 problems with my Gators.I would never go back to heavy wood based cases. P@40

Can I ask why people are using rack mount pcs? Unless you are buying good server based systems - you don't get the shock mounts on the hard drives....
If you want indestructable systems - get two Panasonic toughbooks.

Shock Mounts are not important with self parking HD's....

the gator case should support having another rack on top of it even a heavy one....
Lets put it this way you will probably have the one you linked full of equipment and the other one as well... mounting equipment just makes the case all the more sturdy and since it's made of military spec plastic it's gonna support alot....
I've got that gator case for my amps and it is very sturdy. The handle it too short to walk comfortably with it, but my amp rack is very heavy and it still beats carrying it. I'd buy another. There isn't much of anything I would resist stacking on it, if that helps. I got mine for around $150 from MF. 6U.

I've since learned that the slant case will not stack on this case (slots don't line up).
This is the base that would fit:

No handle, but casters

Pete I use rack mount as I already had the PC ....simply transferred it to a rack case..It's a 3 year old P4 2 gig...has worked flawlessly. Even dropped it off the cart once....booted right up.....
Figured $60 bucks for a case versus 800-1000 for a laptop was a no brainer.....

Ba da bing. That's the one I was going to recommend.
I put my DS1200 in that and the Gator slant top with the computer on top of it.
