The most popular radio station here is a Top 40 station. It is primarily targeted to the teen/twenty something crowd. I know(or think I know) that Sunday night is probably the slowest time with the least amount of sponsership.
I have been mulling over an idea of presenting a Sunday night 2-hour show of a different genre - Christian Rap! Maybe called the 'Jesus Freakshow' or something like that. I have alot of kids who love this music and I truely believe that it would go over well in this area.
Are radio stations apt to crossover genres like that if it brought in sponsers? I am not familiar with the radio format enough to know about these things.
Anyone have any ideas, thoughts or suggestions?

When last working in the States, Medford Oregon a Pastor presented such a show but included the Christian Alternative stuff as well. It was done once a week on Sunday evenings and became quite popular and it allowed some really cool concert from some of the Bands like the Newsboys, Silage, OC Supertones, Audio Adrenaline one of my other favorites, and many other big named acts ended up doing a show on their way through to Portland or Seattle. Eddie do you have some really active youth groups in your region? Its very active in this little town in Oregon. In fact one of the non denoms in Eagle Point was 75% teen member based.

BEFORE you pitch this to a radio station be sure you have a demo package ready as that will be the first thing they ask for if they are interested. Have two versions of the show ready, a full version(less commercials but with the breaks in place) and a telescoped version, where you cut the middles out of the songs leaving only intro's, outro's, transitions.
Now for the paper portion, you'll want some info about the music format itself, how longs its been around, who the core artists are, who's up and coming, who the potential audience would be and some demographic information, suggest possible sponsors, including non-traditional sponsors like churches, youth programs, or community service organizations. (Since you're looking at Sunday rates would be lower than normal)Keep it short, sweet and to the point. You may also want to include a sample cue sheet with the demo that shows the segments, timing and out cues.
For today's radio, anything less than 100% professional presentation will land your info in the trash. (FYI 30yrs+ veteran of radio industry)
