Dear sir or madam:
Hello, my name is Nate Preheim, I am a Real Estate Broker by profession.

I am writing to inquire as to your djing services, however I do have a few
question I hope you can answer for me please.

1. What are the limitation and specifications of your system?
2. Total wattage?
3. How many people is the max for your system?
4. Do you have subs? Please send a picture of system.
5. How much would you charge for a full system setup and a dj for approx.
10 pm to 2 am?
6. And most most most importantly, is your dj proficient at beat matching
and mixing.

Thanks so much and I look back to a quick response I have made inquiry to
more than one service and have yet to have a response.

So much thanks and aloha!
Nate

so I responded like this::::

Aloha Nate...

Before I can take care of your questions, I would need to know.
1. Date Of Event
2. Location Of Event - I'm guessing somewhere on Maui because you didn't say.
3. How many people at your event (I have more than one system)?
4. Budget for your event.
5. Are you looking for the right DJ or the Cheapest DJ
6. What style of music are you looking for?
7. What is the age range of the crowd?

aloha and mahalo for your inquirey....

I just got this response from him...

Good day,
The date of the event would be late in the month of novemeber on a friday and I am looking for the right dj.

It is going to take place in a club which is being rented out. So i can expect 150 people, but I want a huge system with subs.

Do you have a DJ who is proficient in beat matching and mixing? I am looking for underground hip hop instrumentals to be beat matched and mixed and manipulated.

so I said::::::::
Yes I do have a DJ who can beat mix like nobody else...

but the date and the location will determine price....

thanks! :)

He had an ad on Craigslist
http://honolulu.craigslist.org/mau/evs/442665362.html

Busted... so I sent him an e-mail

Aloha Nate.....

The island is so small,, one of the other DJs here on Maui forwarded me your Craigslisting....

LOL,,, no worries... Your e-mail sounded more informed than most Grooms,,, I had suspected as much.

So anyway... sounds like you are putting together a nice system. If you wanna know about me and my pricing, call, don't worry, I'm all about networking and trying to make sure that the DJs on the island are at least charging a living wage, you'd be surprised at how many don't.

Not sure how long you have been on Maui, but it's hard not to run into another DJ. Do you know many?

So if you wanna talk, call, the door is open, you don't have to try and be sneeky! LOL

he e-mailed me back,,,, seems like a nice sort, but yes he was fishing,,, I invited him to play golf.... who knows, you can never have to many people to network with... :)

Chuck.. Awesome job. You called him out but didn't do so harshly.

With this guy all he had to do was call you and BS.. But then again you aren't the norm, most DJs would out him and tell him where to go and how to get there. You know the attitude.. "How dare you infiltrate my territory!!"

Now not only am I jealous of where you live but your giving back to the industry also.. :)

His craigslist says this ...

In addition to an incredible system, and 9 years of experience behind the music, you are also getting a fully insured business operation, honest and trustworthy professional service, and visual enhancements.

He really shows that ...

Have heard of FRFC (Fort Collins, Next town to the North of me) but have not heard of Nate. Will ask around my network. If he was any good at all....somebody would have heard of him.

To tell you about myself, I am 25 years old and I engaged to marry my beautiful finance of 3 years.
"I engaged"??

My wife is a CPA, but I didn't call her "my finance" before we got married!

The last thing from the FCC for a radio DJ that really meant anything was a Third-Class Radiotelephone License with a Broadcast Endorsement. If you didn't score at least 75%, you didn't pass. If you didn't pass you don't get a license, if you didn't have a license in most cases you couldn't work, as radio stations were REQUIRED to have a 3rd w/ BC endorsement MINIMUM on duty to operate the stations transmitter.
