The throw is determined by Focal Length of the lens and the diagonal of the projected image (screen) and the diagonal of the LCD/DLP chip.

Balance Line is correct, you will need to check the focal length, then multiply it by two generally. a 6X8 foot screen will usually require 10-12 feet.

Be careful, some projectors lie about their focal length, we ran into this issue with some NEC projectors not being completely honest, it was barely off and didn't hit the entire screen, needless to say we bit the bullet on them and got some others for the house of worship.

Also for those who have no idea how to handle this, NEC as well as other companies have a interactive calculator where you choose the model and give it some numbers and it tells you the distance the projector needs to be.

I want a reap projection?? screen. where is a good deal and are the really good? I do not want clarity loss. I use a standard Draper screen now.
How much are these other types? I have only seen one once in a Foley's. It seemd alright, especially in the lit showroom.
