They left a church address

other than two or three key errors in typical inquiries I would think the scammers are improving their English use.

I know it's really bad. Almost as bad as the emails I get from Ethiopia, Bangkok or Thailand claiming to need my help. All I have to do is give them my bank account numbers. LOL

I haven't seen this one though. Oh well so much for that mini vacation in Miami!

Greets, Carolyn.

I would be suspect of this message. Just for kicks, find out if the church does indeed exist. :D

Hi Fred,

Just checked it out in the yellow pages on line and yes, it does exist.

There has to be hundreds of DJ's between here and Miami. I wonder how I was so lucky.

The first thing sent up a flair is: "am Carl by name" American's nor Brit's speak like that.

Also the date format: American's use month, day, year British use Day, month, year.

The last thing was "Cheers" that's a British saying.

British English always puts up may scam alert with these types of emails because people who are taught English outside the states are taught the British way.

Online yellow pages are available to the spammers too. ;)

I received one like it the other day, but from Alaska. I normally just delete and move on, but I decided to bite and play along and responded as followed:
"My fee will be $4,000.00 for the 3 hr. event. I require payment in full immediately by Cashiers Check or Money Order sent via FedEx Express only. Response required within 24 hours due to additional clients requesting the same date. Thank you!

Posts concerning these scam emails appear at DJ Chat on occasion. The members typically post 'em to alert others in the biz.

In one instance, the stated engagement location was a church in another state that didn't exist.

We can share a good laugh at these things but there are people who fall for 'em. How often will a bonafide B&G solicit business from multiple DJ companies that are located hundreds or thousands of miles away, sight unseen? It just goes against every aspect of common sense...

This is one reason our business information is not posted on the online DJ listing sites. To many trolls out there... and I do not like spam. I do get a lot of this nonsense via my Yahoo freemail account... but that's a very old account (circa. 1997). It isn't used for anything important anyhow. It's just a spam catcher.

One more word of caution: Please do not respond to these messages. A response validates your email address and you may end up being spammed to death.

Hope it helps.
