Well, it's taken about a year but it has finally happened. I have a positive report on my Bose L1 system.

Last night I had a Karaoke Christmas party at a very nice bar toward downtown. I knew that there was stairs and the room was small and kinda broken up. So I figured I'd throw the Bose in the truck just in case.

It ended up being a great idea they put me on the 2nd floor so about 30 stairs in total to deal.

So the report, for the 1st time ever: It was loud enough cause the room was small and I only had to entertain about 30 / 35 people. It never one feedback even with the mic right in front of it. With the way the room was I actually had to back down the bass cause there was a ton of it.

So from now on the Bose is my under 50 people, private party system. (I get about 3 or 4 a year so it will eventually pay for itself)

Cool deal... but why limit it to under 50 people you should be able to easily entertain up to 150 with just one L1 and 2 B1's and still have loads of headroom to play with.... I know cause I've done it and more both in bars and at private events....

I'm glad you had a positive experience.

I'm not comfortable I used it for about 100 people and it wasn't nearly loud enough.

You've got to be kidding..... I've had mine in venues where they've asked me to turn it down because I was too loud (and I mean clear as a bell loud).... and that was in a room for up to 250 and we had 200 ppl at that time.

With my experience I just find it hard to believe it wouldn't be loud enough unless you are playing outside at a busy airport with jumbo jets takin' off every 5 minutes.

Although based on your previous posts and problems with sound equipment leads me to believe if it can only go to 10 on the dial you'd want 11. Just an observation. ;)

I've ran a single L1 and 2B1s for a small crowd, about 50 and it was more than loud enough.

Have you got the R1 remote connected, if you do what do you have the volume set to on it?

I'm sure it is loud enough for the normal user, but I am anything but that.

I am set up as per Cap's reccomendations, my system was purchased from him.

My only problems in the past were fedback issues cause by my gain settings on microphones. I got that sorted out.

I too set the remote to 12 o'clock and then if I need more I up the trim on the base itself.... or if the remote is still plugged in I up it there.... and have had zero problems with being loud enough even outdoors in open air.

But, of course I'm a Normal user.... hahahahaha

DJCam is Abnormal.... hahahahahahahahaha. ;)

to each his own..... I too have a hard time believing that it wasn't loud enough for 100 people, maybe not bass-y enough for what you play....

But for Karaoke the BOSE really shines and the no feedback is worth it's weight in gold.

Colleagues : Cam is a man, a DJ, unto himself. As with all my customers, each was trained as to what each dial, each setting, each interface, each knob, each wire did and what the possible outcomes would be if ignored or miscued.

If you go on the BOSE forums right now, there are literally hundreds of posts with the worst advice known to man kind. Why? DJ's love to tinker. Love to push envelopes. Love to be the first to discover a setting. A heretofore unknown diamond. And what you end up with is a mess; a mass of misinformation completely out of control.

So if Cam or anyone else went outside the envelope or ignored the training/advice, then it's not the system to blame. Cam did NOT blame the system. The system doesn't match his style.

I sure wouldn't want to be a guest however if one tower and two bass bins setup correctly wasn't loud enough. View attachment ani-rofl.gif

Amen Cap
it's not what ya got, it's how you use it!

I guess you guys really wouldn't want to come to the vast majority of the events I do (other than during dinner at a wedding! LOL

I sure remember that. Even the most elegant wedding parties often become wall-thumping dance parties before it's all over with. :)

I really need to get a pic of all the ladies dancing and sitting on my subs at the bar....

Sometimes, theres 10 or more on them......try that with the B1's:sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

Still love my l1s! I am at a Christmas party for a car dealership now (Starts in 10 minutes acutally) and this one guy liked them so much that he came and took a picture of them and my card. They have paid for themselves.

My lumbars love them too!

At our corp party for a local raidiolgy company (bad spelling). The head of the clinic was petting my bose at the end of the night saying how much he loved the look and the sound. So for me it works also.
