I should preface this thread by asking what are your times you do business? I try to do 8am-8pm. I also meet on Saturdays from 11-2 only and not on Sundays. After a certain hour, I turn into a pumpkin..In other words for those not familiar with the word, your not in business mode. Relax time, bed...etc.

I feel Sundays are family day. Phone rings fine, no meetings.

Ok, I get a call about 905 pm, called id name looks familiar, it's my potential bride and groom for July 09. Venue is close by. After 20 minutes were done. They did apologize for the surprise conference call. It's cool...

What about you? Your hours of doing business.

Calls pretty much anytime. Meetings evenings and weekends. We deal a lot with college kids, so we have to be very flexible in our times to accomadate their schedules.

Most anytime if I'm not working or sleeping. I have booked a job via first a few emails and then a phone call at 2:30am on a week night she worked 2nd shift. Got an initial quote request email replied back for more info, got more info, and replied back for the bride to give me a call. She called talked a little bit finalized the requirements, and price. I emailed a contract, she signed it scanned emailed it back and sent retainer with PayPal. I signed the contract scanned it and emailed her a copy along with a planning guide. Also setup a meeting at the venue the next day.

I tend not to make phone calls after 9 or 10pm, just out of courtesy, unless I'm returning a phone message where the caller says they'll be up until much later or pulling an all-nighter. People can call anytime; if I miss the call, I return it as soon as I can. Email is of course 24/7 and as the J Mac noted, meetings are on evenings and weekends. Between college students and second-shifters, flexibility is a must for dealing clients around here.

people can call me mon - thurs 9am to 9pm
friday & sunday 9am to 1pm
Saturdays CLOSED

would you like it while I was doing your wedding someone called me on a Saturday
nope, then no calls Saturday ( leave messages thats it )

(I still answer but when its a new client or such I take name and number and say that we are closed for taking calls on a Saturday, someone will call them back during OFFICE hours) if they can 200% be a job i can make money on; on the day

No real set hours, within reason and any day is fair game, unless we're in the middle of an event which we'll call them back as soon as time permits.

I think as a full time DJ it is important to remember that you have to have office hours of some kind just to keep your sanity.

Being available 24/7 is not good for your health.

I usually turn my phone off at about 7pm,,, I wake up and turn it back on around 10ish...

Meetings? I don't do a lot of those as you know because of my agents but when I do, I NEVER book a meeting on the same day as an event. I like to keep my mind on the job the day of and not load the van, have meetings, get the music or pack the clothes, it's all done 1 or 2 days ahead of time.

I have often wondered... why do people think DJs should be available for calls outside of normal business hours?

We've gotten cold calls from prospects as late as 10:00 PM. It's not unusual for us to get calls on weekends. :dontknow:

So Kirby I call you Saturday night at a wedding and since your at one you will do a transaction for a new client at the sametime or take off time to answer them!!

ok wont say a word!

When we are working the phone is shut down, but they can always leave a message.:)
