Any lyric issues we need to know about on any of these? I do middle school dances at times and want to be safe.

R&B isn't something you would play for a middle school dance. R&B is Urban AC (Adult Contempory).

If your music comes from a sub it will be clean versions. Most of the Adult stuff is clean out of the gate though.

I wouldn't consider any of those songs R&B they are Urban in my listing.

Cam what if they are on a Promo Only CD? if they are clean versions ?

not sure that way but some CDs that are suppose to be well R&B hip hop or whatever the type of music that it suppose to be its really hard to nail it correctly as you said

there are so many types Of Genres that you can get cross mixed as it is..

Yes it's close but not that same. It's very hard to label exactly.

Like Matchbox 20 for me is pop but Fuel and Lifehouse are Alternative. There is no exact science to it.

I actually recently started dual categorizing music. Even if it's a rap or alternative song if it's on my Mainstream CD it goes in my pop folder.

If it's on the Urban CD and becomes a top 40 hit it's still in the Rap Folder

If it's a rap song that came on a modern rock disc it still goes in the Alternative folder.

A most recent example is: Asher Roth - I Love Collage
It is Alternative, Pop and Rap.

Promo Only will be clean for radio unless it is on the Urban Club CD. I get Urban Club and Urban Radio so I have the clean versions for the kids but also have the dirty so the versions I'm playing in a bar are not all chopped up.
