Doing a party for an 11 year-old. I'm thinking a couple of "games" would be a-propos... but not sure what games.

Can you guys offer some suggestions?

Thanks!!!

I am assuming it is a B-Day party....

I personally love the classics...

Limbo
Hula Hoop
Coke & Pepsi
Freeze Dance
Balloon Stomp
Take them outside and play "Run Over" in the street.
Huggy Bear
Walla Balla's PERFECT for that age!

I get the part about games, and I'm sorry that I don't have ideas for you, but..

I don't see how you were conned.

LOL, I think he meant that in jest.... like if anybody works with that age group, they were conned.... just what I'm guessing.

You are absolutely right.

I had declined this gig initially. However, the lady REALLY wanted a DJ... When she called back and said she couldn't get anyone else... I really couldn't say no.

So... consider me CONNED :) or just a softie for not standing my ground.

Thank you

I have heard of this many times, but have no idea what it is.

I don't believe in being conned into taking a job, nor do I believe you're the only D.J. that anyone could find. There's simply got to be more to the story.

1st Steve, that is a pic of Walla Balla...

Coke and Pepsi... I stole some of this from DJU

It is an elimination game. You will ask the kids to grab a partner. Have each group of two line up across from each other at either end of the dance floor. One side of the dance floor will be named Pepsi and the other will be Coke.

You then explain the object of the game by telling them you will either be saying Pepsi or Coke. If you say Pepsi, the Pepsi side has to run over and sit on their partners knee, this way, no chairs are involved. If you say Coke, then the Coke side has to run across and sit on Pepsi’s lap.

Last couple to do this is out. Then they go back to their sides to redo it.

I also throw in 7-Up, the kids run to the middle and "High 5" then run back to their side. Nobody gets out, just a way to change it up.

Saying Dr. Pepper - They can point to the guest of honor and yell " You're The Man! or "Woman" or something similar " again, nobody gets out, just a way to keep it moving.

This is kinda like a "Simon Says" where you try and do it quick and fun.

I will sometimes yell out Coke before or just as they get back to their sides.

No need to worry about games. You are a fellow karaoke host! I've done plenty of events where this age group had to be entertained, including Confirmations.

Bring the karaoke equipment and some Hanna Montana, Disney, High School Musical, Band Camp, etc.. discs and throw some karaoke into the mix! YOU know they'll love it! No need for games....

Also, don't forget to hit the Dollar Store for glow sticks, pendants, hair clips, bracelets, etc... ( I think it's 6 for a buck). Another HUGE hit.

Thanks a bunch!

Thank you guys!

Those are some great ideas. I feel much more confident about the whole thing. Now, if I could only get her to return my calls... but that's a whole different thing.

Yeah, play pop the balloon game. But do it the old fashion way. First make up teams. One kid from each team will do the popping. All the other team members will have a balloon stuffed in their butt. Now take a nail (an 8 penny should be fine) and afix it to a helmet. I think you can figure out the rest.:sqerr:

I do a game where there are teams and one person sits on a chair the other stands in front of them,, I give each team 3 - 5 balloons depending on how fast I want the game to go..... they have to blow them up, tie them, put them on their partners lap and sit on it until it pops.... not new, but again, the classics,,,

Well, the party was today. Thankfully the parents were on-board... and they helped me get/keep things moving. They loved the music selections (good thing I asked ahead of time, they didn't want ANY Hannah Montana).

Thanks for all the help!
