Having an ego isn't such a bad thing, it's when we become "egocentric" we move to another whole level.
Just my opinion.....
.
I used to have a business partner that was Mr. Ego. Papa, I think you met him in AC. This guy would tell you about all the things he's done and how great he is. He would talk about all the clubs he worked in and how he did a fantastic job at each.
99.99999% of it was BS.
I agree with Scott here, Personally I don't feel I have an ego or that I am full of myself and I don't think anyone that is a guest at a function I do feels that way. Am I confident in what I do? absolutely. Do I think I am special and am the only one that can do the job I do? not hardly!
My feelings don't get hurt when a potential client turns down my offer and I don't chase them around trying to find out why they went with someone else's service. That is EGO!
I don't try to tell clients how to have a good time! That is EGO!
I don't try to tell other DJ's what they should be doing! That is EGO!
I don't try to tell other's what to charge! That is EGO!
I don't say that a DJ who got the job I didn't sucks! That is EGO!
I do what I do, I charge what I charge, I know I can give my clients what they pay for! And that is confidence!
I don't have a big ego, but I'm confident that I can give every couple that chooses my service will receive the kind of entertainment they've envisioned.
On the mic I can be bigger than life. Outgoing, personable, & very friendly.
Off the mic, I'm actually pretty shy and don't like being in situations where I don't know anyone.
We have a lot in common Jay
I dont call it ego I call it the character. My DJ persona is more a character I create. The trick is to keep the character on a short chain. It helps me with crowds because although I know I have the confidence to make the show special I am inherently shy
