Friends.... I wanted to post this announcement myself. Many ADJA members will recall the wireless microphone sale the ADJA and NLFX brought to you back in 2008 when it was known that the FCC was going to be phasing out the use of 698-806 MHz.

In the year and half since then many members have asked if it would return. We were able to bring it back one time due to members in the Houston area missing out because of storm damage and communications outages. After that, I have had the unpleasant task of telling many others that it would not return... including the ADJA's president, Dr. Drax.

Drax was not content to leave it at that, and has lobbied hard and convincingly for many months both to myself and to our partners at Electro-Voice. His efforts have prevailed and we are proud that through his efforts and those of Mike Doucot at EV, we are able to bring this promotion back for one, last (really this time) encore.

Not only will the special members pricing apply... but if you send in a qualifying system that operates between 698 and 806 MHz, you will be eligible for an additional rebate of up to $100!

It warms my heart that three worthy organizations can team up for the betterment of the industry and I hope you will check your e-mail and take advantage of this opportunity. :)

When does this deal expire?

Is this only for ADJA members?

Check the e-mail from Drax, but I believe it is the end of March for the ADJA pricing. The rebate I think goes until June.

Is this only for ADJA members?

Well, as you know we have fantastic pricing always for everyone... but this extra special deal is only for ADJA members, yes. Sorry.

Ben

I have to give Drax and NLFX a TWO thumbs up for getting EV to extend the microphone special offer.

Last year, I bought two of the EV RE2 transmitters, a handheld, a headset, and two lavalier mics from NLFX. I saved a boatload of money AND I can vouch that these mics are excellent quality.

Which kind of mic is best with the lavalier?

The correct answer to every engineering question is... "It depends". Anybody who's endured one of my seminars has heard that too many times. LOL.

Seriously though, it does depend on how you intend to use it. Drop me a line and I'd be happy to spend some time on the phone with you. :)

Thanks Ben.
I'll share it with everyone (may help out others)

For mic'ing the minister and/or groom during a wedding ceremony.
I usually mic each of them.
I have always used unidirectional because I don't want to risk feedback, someone whispering to each other, or other outside noises. (is this correct thinking...yes or no?)

I Didnt use the ADJA promo but I still ordered me a RE-2 from NLFX can't wait for it to come so I can test it out.

Of course the NLFX crew is the greatest.

Thanks Ben.

Yes, that is the correct thinking. By design a cardoid (hyper, super, etc) will reject sound that is off axis, thus reducing feedback, stage noise, etc. However, if you WANT to pick up off axis sound (mic officiant and pick up B & G for example) then you want an omni and you risk picking up these other off axis sounds as well.

No kidding LOL.... at the last wedding I used mine and picked up all the way to the first row of people... coughs, comments, even the sounds of them fidgeting in their seats....

Don't know what type of mic was on the groom of a wedding we were attending, but it picked up perfectly when he said "Is she psycho yet?"

Yup, the mic was on & he didn't realize it that guests were already arriving... bad dj... :sqerr:

In the past I've used omni's because I need to pick up the bride from the groom and/or officiant - but I'm looking at some alternatives.

At one wedding, the bride had just gotten down to her spot by the groom, and he leaned over to her and said,

"You look so HOT in that dress. I can't wait to get you out of it!"

Yea.... I muted the microphone immediately but everyone heard it and cracked up laughing.

Re: The Microphone Deal with ADJA.
If you need microphones, think you'll need microphones, or just want to get some to have if you might need 'em - this is a GREAT DEAL.

I've been slowly selling off the Audio Technica 2000 series microphones I have and will be picking up these later this month. Of course if you want an AT2000 series just let me know. I have a handheld and a lav I'm selling. :D
