I just purchased a new 12x12 pop up tent for using at outdoor events to replace my old 10x10. I was using some buckets filled with sand to hold the tent down on windy days.

My question is what other ways do you guys use to hold your tents down??

You can use 5 gal pails filled with sand or water or get the very long landscape nails and drive through the slots in the feet.

If your on dirt or something, I found the spiral dog stakes at the dollar store and they have held it in place through some very strong winds, even when I had the sides tarped up.

Put them right inside the feet, and run the rope straight down from the braces up at the top to the stake. you can put the stake in about 1/2 way, then tie the rope to it. Screw it down a little more to pull the rope tighter.

For pavement, I've used 5gallon buckets filled with water. At the end of the show, you can just dump the water out and stack the buckets. Just make sure the venue can provide you the water to fill them up with!

We are looking at getting something for our tent as well. We were thinking about mounting a bolt through a 25lb weight and using wingnuts to secure it down. Or trying to find something with a slot in the weight.

Just found this as well - LINK

I usually hire 4 midgets to hold the corners down. They stand there all day hold each legs..... Works great except in really strong winds and then even then get tossed around....

A 5 gallon bucket of water weighs more, 8.345 lbs per gal x 5 gal + weight of bucket. call it 42 lbs total, and when you empty it you don't have to carry that weight around.

Paint the buckets and put your logo, website addy and phone number on each bucket.

That's fine, but you could easily make a sleeve or something to slip over the bucket.

Make an insulated one, fill them with ice water and use for keeping a few drinks cool as well.

I like the bucket idea, but sometimes you don't have access to water that readily.

Drink plenty of beer before you leave the house .....by the time you get there.........LOL well you can figure out the rest!

I placed a call to my local printer this afternoon. He is going to do a sample waterproof label for some 5 gal buckets. I will post some pictures when he sends the mock up.

Thanks for the ideas guys, and if anyone has more ideas my ears are still open.
