Then why say anything...:sqconfused:

I guess to give those who are considering buying uplighting a fair heads up that if their timeline is not urgent, perhaps they should hold off. It's a delicate balance I guess. It would have been easier for me to say nothing and continue to take people's money, but I wanted to try to be ethical about it even though I can't tell them what they are waiting for.

This way to the great egress?

;)

Just messin' Ben!

I hope that what's in the pipeline is known come the AC show - Hey, that IS in August....
:sqwink:

Again, just messin'....

well.......:sqlaugh:

Thanks Randy. :) I will say this about uplighting fixtures.... we have a "game changer" that we will unveil in August. Stay tuned. ;)

Ben

Its a battery powered, Radio DMX LED Strip that can wash 3 feet of wall 10 feet high, last for 10 hours, and cost under $200. :sqerr:

Wouldn't that be nice!:sqwink:

Don't know what Ben has up his sleeve--but I sure hope its a YELLOW LED!

Yellow diodes have revolutionized television. I can imagine what they will do for uplighting!

Steve,

I will wait to see what the reveal will be -

But IF an affordable RGBAW (yes, amber & white) is on the block... To quote another DJ... WATCHOUT!

Eager to see what is.... who knows, maybe at the AC Expo????

Hmmm.

BTW-- I am currently using Omnisistem PAR 56's from Ben.
Very bright light in a reasonably sized package

I used a 3/8 " x 2" pipe nipple. Used a 3/8" x 2 1/2" carriage bolt through my wood platform, into the nipple and through the yoke. Works great for DMX connection.

I do about the same thing, but instead of the pipe I use extra nuts and washers. You can use the the bottom nut to raise and lower the light as needed.

So Ben, It's almost August. Any news yet on this 'game changer'?

Is it a battery powered Puck style light with it's own base and is wirelessly programmable and linkable with other fixtures?

Steve et al... if you ever need deeper brackets for the Omnisystems... I have a ton of them that I had made for that particular light, and what we wanted to do with them never panned out... so they are sitting in a box. Machine aluminum and then black anodized... we had about 24 made, cost us about $400 and they have sat...

Ben,
Any updates on the "game changer"?

Yep. The girls are showing it at the DJ Expo. I don't know if we have a video or pictures of it yet, but soon I'm sure.

What it is, is a 12 unit LED uplighting system that stores in a roadcase. Each unit has a Lithium-ion battery (10 hours of run time) and wireless DMX on board. The units recharge in the roadcase. Roadcases are stackable. It's a very slick system. Literally within minutes you can deploy the units and be up and running.

Each unit is powder coated white, self contained and includes a diffusion filter for a wider throw if desired.

Some questions Ben...

How much? Does it come in black as well? Who makes it and what is it called? Does it come with a drool bucket because I need one at this moment?

It currently only comes in white, but we are actively making revision suggestions. It is made by OmniSistem (no name at this time) and we are the exclusive US distributor for it. :) I think it is going to market at $3499, but don't quote me on that.

Ben

Ben,

I've touched it.

LOL - Just the case of which you speak.

Kat, Krysta & the guys from Omnisistems are setting up the Omni booth as I type this.

They said they will be opening & showing it after everything else is setup.

This is going to be a great show. :)

Cheers,

Joe

I wasn't too far off now was I. :sqwink:

I'm not a fan of these DJ class LED par cans.

They are spots, not washes. Take a good look at many of the posted pictures and what you see is "stripes" rather than an smooth color wash. Many are not even capable of producing "white."

A spot may be useful on a specific piece of architecture (like a column or buttress) but the spikes and stripes on the walls just looks kind of cheesy.

I prefer LED battens and you can get them in a variety of sizes and lenses to manage your beam angle to produce seemless washes.
