The Facade Makes It's Debut (Finally)

I can see hiding an unsightly stack of gear, but I for one am proud to have my case seen.
A mess is a mess. I would still be embarrassed to have someone walk up to my facade and see a scattered workstation.

The only positive vote I give for facades is that when done right, they look cool.

Anyway, the thought was -- in the old days, DJ's went out of their way to show off their equipment -- now they go out of their way to hide it.

Repeat after me! "Some DJs"

Yes. There is translucent vinyl that looks like etching. You most likely see it all the time in pubs and restaurants.

Would that work in the case of the facade with it being back lit?

Yes, it should show up. The brightness of the backlight would determine how washed out it gets. It would have to be pretty bright to do that though.

Not all shops keep this particular vinyl on hand. You would have to ask around.
If you had to special order it, you would have to buy a minimum yardage or roll.

Ya I know that stuff is pretty spendy.... I think for just our entry ways around $300 to 400.00 something in that neighborhood anyway for full door graphics and two side lights.

I'll ask Marty if he has any. If you can find someone that has it in stock, it shouldn't cost you much for 2 or 3 feet of it. $40-$60. You have the artwork already or I can make it for you.

Weird how things change... Thoughts...?

As the years go by, people are generally impressed by different things. In years passed, a big amp with big speakers looked very impressive to some people. It wasn't too long ago that it looked impressive to have stacks and stacks of cds. DJs would show them off on the front table. People were impressed by how many cd's a DJ carried. Today, stacks of cd's can look like they can't afford a computer. Like anything, the novelty wears off. Today, thin is in. Thin TV's, sleek electronics. Many DJs today have found that if their set up looks elegant, no one seeing a lot of the electronics at all, clients are more impressed.

Don't like it? Don't worry, things change.

Here's what I mean -- if yer gonna go to the expense of buying good stuff -- show it off

Is that the Golden Gate Bridge lit at night? yorofl:

Waiting to see the pictures from the event on Friday.

May be a while on that...we were handing the 3 cameras back and forth all day and I have no idea which card the equipment pics are on.... In fact Coreen hasn't even begun loading Friday's images which easily topped 2,000 as she's finishing up pictures from a Summer wedding so we can get paid and ship them off to NC before Thanksgiving.

Kirby just a thought. You need someone to review pics? I could be had for a nominal fee. Send the files my way and I will review and or help sort through the 2000. I admire a photographer that takes tons of pics to find the magical ones that spell success.
