This past weekend, I had someone request the song "Clap for the Wolfman" by the Guess Who.
I was pretty certain this would clear the floor, but thought what the heck....

I was shocked to see that it totally filled the dancefloor & everyone was singing along with it.
Strange.

Any of you had a similar situation?

Ruben that song is to the 70s like New York New York Piano man and Sweet Caroline, Dont Stop Believin, Mony Mony etc is to many circles. In the right crowd possibly this one he could have played Casey Jones Grateful Dead and won them over even more.

I have that song in my library!

I have it too - On a side note, many people familiar with KR's All Summer Long will dance to it - where ya think it came from?

:)

I have had times when the group I was with had a love affair with a random or obscure song, that worked. I hate using the strange ones, but understand why they want it. It worked because of the group. I wouldn't try it in any other group.

Hey guys, I've got that song on Vinyl 45 (mint condition). It was very popular in the 1970's. Play it at the Halloween dances.

I had a request not long ago for The Devil Went Down To Georgia that packed the floor and had them screaming along and the same with Allan Jackson's Livin On Love one night

I did a wedding a few weeks ago and one of the guests told me that there were alot of people from Detroit (I'm in Phoenix) and that they all do the electric slide to Stevie Wonder's "My Eyes Don't Cry". I told him I'd play it but he'd better be out there doing it. He said it wouldn't be a problem. I played it and almost every guest at the wedding was on the floor. I like the song a whole lot more than the actual Electric Slide.

The song "clap for the wolfman" by the Guess Who was their tribute to legendary D.J. Wolfman Jack. It's off a great LP called "Road food". I had the LP as a teenager. A "lost classic" for sure!
