afordable small compact usb dj system

If you are going the usb controller route I would suggest this controller. It has all the basics that you would need. First of all it comes with software so you can start right away, it can controll up to 4 decks and best of all it has a soundcard built in. I use its bigger brother. The big difference is that the 4Mx has inputs, mor buttons(for efects and other stuff) and also is made of metal. It is at a great price and you can carry this and a laptop in a small bag.

I may buy a used Numark Mixdeck Express..... I know a guy who used it, and liked it, but has drastically upgraded his system, and no longer needs it.

The Denon MC6000 is a winner for me. There's a nice small case made for it with a laptop slide tray, and the thing is oh so flexible in what it will do. You may want to take a close look at these.

While the DJ2GO is certainly small and cheap, it's also not a "system" as it does not have audio or external mixing capabilities. The OP didn't ask for affordable controllers (not sure if he meant to), but generally, when one refers to a system, it needs to do all the things necessary besides the laptop and speakers/amps. Thus the other offerings here. The affordable part could always be debated.
