I've been going through my music collection and adding album artwork where needed.

I've only found one decent pic for Top Hits but it's a boring black one with just some writing.

I've been unable to find any picture in a Google search for all the country tracks I ripped from the CDX music service I subscribed to years ago.

Does anyone have a better idea where to find a pic I can use for album artwork for all my Top Hits USA and CDX tracks? All I need is one good one.

I found a few good ones for Prime Cuts.

Jim, it's easy, it's called Amazon.com

Search for an artist, right-click on the album image, and save it to your computer.

Here, let's do Kenney Chesney:

I went to Amazon, searched for Kenney, found the image I wanted, and saved it to my album art folder. Now it's easy to embed it into the MP3 file. :)

Took about 20 seconds ;)

I don't know what CDX is, but are you looking to blanket all the tracks in a particular folder with one cover art?

Nice pic Hanky... :)

I'm sorta old school on the album art thing -- I'll tag each album, from the original artwork. Takes a bit of time, but it's like having the album in front of you :)

I think Jim was looking for a single pic (or 2) to put on all the Top Hits USA and CDX songs, but I could be wrong.

I think Jim already knows he can use Rockit's Multi-File tag editor to do that. You just select a folder, and tag the album art.

It embeds them into the files, and is readable by any software.

Steve, yes, you are right. And yes Rick, that's what I've been using and doing.

But I've had a devil of a time coming up with any snazzy Top Hits logo, although Hank's is definitely a possibility.

And that CDX one is from a computer software company, but it may have to be my go-to choice.

Thanks for the help provided so far!

Actually, the CDX logo came from the Country Music radio distribution company. http://www.cdxcd.com/about-us/

Rick, I am placing the actual album artwork whenever possible. But it's the hundreds of tracks I have from Top Hits and CDX that I want to give some artwork.

Me, I'd do them individually, so at a quick glance, I could see who the artist is...

If you label them all with the same image, it sorta defeats the purpose of album art, IMHO...

Agreed, but I don't have time to sort through each one from Top Hits and CDX and locate the actual album and its cover. I wish I did - even the anal-retentive type A OCD in me begs to do it.

But face it...that's a lotta man hours!

Depends on how quick you are with the mouse Jim... ;)

I've also downloaded thousands of album art over the years, so lots of times I can pull from stock, so to speak. It's just a routine I got into, and whenever I see cool album art, I save it to my album art folder. I'm also OCD, I save everything I find.

BTW, there's also an option in Rockit, where you can bring up a song in the library, and save the album art out to a file, to use later. :)

I do that a lot, because for example, I always identify Aerosmith with the Toys In The Attic cover -- it's inprinted on my brain that it's an Aerosmith song. So I saved it out from one song, and tagged all the rest with the same image.

and for the iTunes "fanboys and girls" there's TuneUp companion, which will hunt down cover art for songs automatically ... :triwink:

I suppose it is .. works ok .. I ran it on the downloads from iDJPool and it tagged the vast majority and pulled cover art.

I must be the only manually operated person in the world these days

I love doing this stuff -- beats the heck out of watching boring TV. :)
I used to be a tagging fool, but then I realized that it wasn't necessary for a work library. Most of my personal library is tagged properly, but even then, if no one else sees it but me, who cares?

On a side note Ricky, I found this little plugin that writes the current "Now Playing" track to a remote text file. The file can then be accessed and displayed within my lounge broadcast. Is this something you would consider adding to Rockit? It's pretty nifty. I am currently experimenting with it using Foobar2000.
