Hi Folks,

I've decided to move back to vBulletin within the next week or so. This software looked great on paper but in practice it's just not what I thought it would be.

The only downside of moving back is we will lose private messages (conversations), and everyone will have to reset their passwords but other than that we'll be back to our old self shortly.

Thanks,
Dan

Will be get back the original albums like we used to have? My only complaint here was the Searches left much to be desired.

Yes, we'll be getting albums back but you'll have to start from scratch. I cannot reimport the old ones.

Actually from a technical standpoint search is much better on this software. We run server side software to that indexes much more and generally faster. With vBulletin we're stuck with the build in engine.

Hmm. I have entered searches in here and did not get the results I was seeking even though I know it was here.

Its all Rick's fault, and Fred's for growing dem 'maters. Don't trust DJs that are into veggies! I tell yer, a real DJ loves him some real meat, eh?

Thanks Rick. I'm good to go. I have someone lending me an intermediary license to convert over. It's going to be a 3-way. XF > IPB > vB. Probably the most boring 3way I'll ever be apart of. :D As long as I come out with the data intact I'm good to go. vBulletin is like a comfortable old pair of tennis shoes for me I don't have any problems wrestling with it's core.

@Chuck The DJ. You'll be happy know we'll have an arcade back on the main site. :)

Glad to hear this. After you went XF, I looked at it but it didn't impress me as much. I'll stick with vb 3.8.
I'd go to 3.8 but with the release of 4.2, it's no longer supported even for security updates so that makes me nervous.

vB5 isn't too far away. I'm wondering how much I'm going to get bent over for that update.

It's all Ricky's fault we are moving!
Nah, Ricky made some good points from the jump. I thought and hoped by now the developers would fix the issues. Above that, that I ran into a couple of the intermittent member facing issues myself. The developers have been mum on updates. vB fleeces me but at least I know it and have an idea of what's coming down the pipeline.

One software update in four months which didn't even fix the issues in question (when the devs know there are outstanding issues in their 'rock solid' software) to put it bluntly is ridiculous and unacceptable.

Subpar software isn't for my people.

Are we there yet???

Do we have enough gas in the car to get there?

Thanks Paul but this won't cost me anything but time. I already have the licenses and such. :)
