Maybe .. but the hotspots are really designed for personal monitoring. I think the frequency response is tailored to that if I recall.

That is why the controls are on the front.
The brochure DOES say that they are also good for "patios"...
but it's only a 3" speaker, so I don't think it has the power, or the sound quality for full range audio.
Also, I recall the pattern is very narrow and is not meant to cover a large area.

I made a mistake. I had bought for ceremonies the EV ZXA1. If I were to do it all over again, I would've went with the QSC K-8.

I can no longer trust the ZXA1. It has gone thermal on me twice (in the sunshine) & shut down. A very poorly designed speaker. It has no ventilation. just look at the back, there are no cooling fins or air vents. The QSC has a built in fan.

It's a fantastic sounding speaker, but just don't use it outside where it may be warm or the sun shines on it, because it'll shut down.

I may try & sell my ZXA1's to someone that just wants them for small indoor gigs...or to someone that likes to take risks with outside gigs.

The question is how many could afford a Bose system for ceremonies? Bose is very good but also very costly.

Compact is $1k. I use them for cocktail hours, ceremonies, small events and for fill spots for large rooms

With being able to charge for ceremonies, and extra speakers for cocktail hours, they've paid for themselves very quickly. Also, them offering 12 months same as cash makes it convenient for anyone with revenue coming in.

The 2 minute set up and tear down is very convenient, especially at a ceremony when I need to get into the reception.

Wow, you guys must be using different ZXA1's then the ones i've used. Very inpressive for such a small speaker, Tons of output, blows away the QSC K8's
"Blows away the K8's"... "tons of output"?

You must have been comparing a ZXa5 to that K8 you supposedly blew away. I really wanted the ZXa1's but when I compared them to the K8, I knew the EV was lacking in overall output and clarity (a direct A/B comparison). I ended up getting a pair of RCF 408A's and I'm very satisfied.

Why does one feel the need to buy little speakers for Ceremonies, especially if it is outdoors? Also buying speakers specifically for one function is limiting oneself. I would much rather use something that can easily be integrated into my main rig and thus serve three purposes Ceremony, Backup and additional/fill sound. For example one can duplicate their tops/mains and thus have two sets, in the event that they have to do a larger gig, they just use all four.

For me, I already have EV QRX212/75s, ZXa5s and RCF 312As... All of them seem like overkill for a ceremony. Those RCF HD10As are small and very light weight. They are much more convenient to carry and transport vs my other speakers.

Most of the time it's because a ceremony system is used for speech 75% of the time (except pro/recessional) and aren't played to the level of a dance system. Add to that space is usually at a premium in a church and visually you want as small an impact as possible. Thus a small system.

Probably the same reason you have used the AWM at some places instead of the 802s/scoops.

I was referring to outdoors, usually a big space. Churches usually have their own sound systems. I rent my Bose AWM and it's Mic to people
to use for Small Seminars, usually at a Podium. If I had to do a ceremony that required small speakers I would use just the Pair of 802s

Yes, but most are indoors, so I assume most will base the decision on that.

Yep, I forgot that ALL the Venues that are used for Ceremonies everywhere are small, except in Texas and that all the DJs follow what the others are doing. Where can I buy the smaller size tripods are the smaller speakers?

We don't have things like mega-churches here and many if not most churches have been here for some time and were not designed around audio/video systems. So .. yea .. maybe it's everywhere but Texas, but space in a ceremony area is often pretty minimal.

Add to that that setup and teardown usually has to happen quickly, and a small self-contained system makes sense.
