He said he was going to the hall of records and do it there. He said he just hasn't had the time. He's 22 years old and he loves chasing after women. Bottom line he's a male whore.

Although I know it will do absolutely no good.....the "hall of records" does not give out federal tax id numbers, only the IRS does...and I might add, no one I would want to partner up more with than a "male whore"... great way to build a solid wedding service :rolleyes::rolleyes:

What the hell are you talking about? He fixed my desktop. The issue is with my partners laptop that he uses to DJ with at gigs. Like I said the internal fan is bad and he doesn't want to fix it. So his solution is to get an external fan that sits under the laptop. Now you got it.

I used mine outside last Saturday and it worked just fine the whole time.

you still have no idea Mix

if he cant do it then he isnt a REAL COMPUTER TECH

so have a nice day

Dennis is correct, it's an easy fix thing.

Borrow your partners compressor, leave the laptop running, and blow in through the intakes vents -- it's probably all gummed from the crack and oxy smoke.

I did have to open up one of mine -- think it got bounced around on the trip back from FL (shocks are in bad shape). I took out the fan, reseated it, and now it no longer scrapes.

Pretty simple stuff -- it takes all the IQ of mowing the grass.

You have no idea. It wasn't his laptop and if he didn't want anything done to it then how could he fix it? I was told he restated the computer. He thinks it had a bad program. I don't know what it is that's wrong. All I know is you can offer to help but6 if someone doesn't want your help, there nothing you can do.

I just know I wouldn't buy a used laptop to DJ with. Nor would I buy something from a store that says it was refurbished. I see that in Micro Center often. I wouldn't buy such a thing because that means it had to go back to the company so they could fix what was wrong.

All I know is I loved the laptop I saw in Best Buy. It was FIRE! Right now mine is still working just fine after 3 plus years I guess. Not exactly sure how old it is but it's like a Time X. It takes a licking and it's still ticking.

Most have USB pass-through and I guess if the USB isn't working, the laptop isn't either. :)

USB pass through still uses power off of your USB bus. Any interruption of this power to the pass through devices could be catastrophic. Why not take the safer route and leave it to its own power?

Might want to rethink that .. although the vents are on the sides, heat does escape from the bottom as well. Because there are no problems now doesn't mean there won't be problems.

Sorry to disappoint you Dennis. He's a really good Tech who is working on getting his tax ID to get his business going with working on computers. His goal is to open a store someday.

If this is the same guy who 'fixed' your computer before, then he isn't a 'tech'.

Both of my performance laptops (that's right, I have two) are refurbished machines bought from Dell's outlet. One was a custom-built XPS that somebody ordered but canceled. The other was a scratch-and-dent that Dell fixed to brand-new condition at no extra charge. Spec-wise, these laptops had everything I wanted including HD screens, dedicated video cards and backlit keyboards. Price-wise, they were a very good deal and haven't failed me yet. Keep 'em clean, open 'em up and blow the dust out, and don't connect them to the internet - they'll run problem-free for as long as you need them to.

You said the best thing. I only use my laptop to DJ with and nothing else. That's why I have a desktop too. It is connected to the internet to do what I need it to do.

Nothing wrong with a refurb -- they're usually in better shape than a new one. They are tested, and anything that might have gone bad is replaced with new parts. As Brendan mentioned, many are just returns, because they didn't meet a particular customer's needs.

Those XPS Machines rock. I custom ordered a 17" last May and have not had a hiccup yet. My original Custom Order from Dell was an Inspiron back in 2006 and it still runs too.

I bought an Inspiron 1525 In late 2007 it still runs well...Just to be on the safe side I retired it as a gig machine I had it as backup for a while. I now use an Inspiron 1535 as my main machine and a Toshiba Satellite as a backup

I was taking along the Inspiron as back up for awhile but no longer do that since the Pioneer MEP 7000 Controller is also a Standard Dual Player That not only interfaces with the Laptop but is plugged into the Mixer as well. As a Matter of fact, I sometimes use it as my Primary Music Source with the Laptop standing Idle. The Laptop may need it but it surely does not need the Laptop, since it has its own external hard drive.

I just remember years ago buying a refurbished TV. I'm a fan of buying stuff that is brand new and if there is a problem to have either the store or company resolve the issue. Just like I learned to only buy from a reliable store and stay away from those small little stores that sell everything from TV's to DJ gear.

Now as to the guy who fixed my computer. He did his job. I just added things that messed it up. I put game programs on it and shouldn't have put the whole thing up there. Only certain parts of the game programs needed to be loaded. So that messed up my desktop. It had nothing to do with him at all.

Oh god how hard is it to fix a laptop by a PROFESSIONAL Computer Tech

thats right you have no idea

thanks Rick easy when you know how thats for sure
but you can see we can say till we are BLUE in the face and Mix still wont get it!

What part are you missing dingy. He never attempted to fix his laptop. He fixed my PC. I think he offered and my partner decided to do things himself. Now do you get it! He used a laptop to work with this past Saturday that he's never had an issue with. It worked fine.
