Adding to the portfolio ....

Today, inMusic announced the addition of three professional product brands from D&M Holdings to its existing family of brands. Denon Professional, Marantz Professional, and Denon DJ join a family that includes Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional, ION Audio, Numark, M-Audio, AIR Music Technology, and Mixmeister.

Wow. This has the potential to really suck. I left Numark stuff over a decade ago because it was cheap crap and went to Denon which I've been using ever since. Hopefully they'll keep Denon as it is (style, layouts, functionality, etc) and just market it as their high end. If they start making them like Numarks, then I'm gonna have to look for another company.

Maybe they'll start making Numarks like Denons .. :)

Behringer seems to have moved their products upmarket a little since acquiring Midas, Klark-Teknik and Turbosound.

That would be my hope, bringing in some of the Denon aspects to improve Numarks. I know the price for Denon's things can be high, but having a lower cost substitute that still has some of the quality of a Denon wouldn't be a bad thing.

Example would be Behringer's X-32 board.

inMusic also owns Akai... Not all of their business units are entry level/low quality. I think the most likely thing will be inMusic will keep DenonDJ as a separate business unit which will proceed as it has neither affected by not affecting Numark... Hopefully inMusic can use their connections with Serato to bring Serato support to the DenonDJ line though.

Numark NS7 NS6 have been rock solid products. You can't say the same for Pioneer's top line products like the 2000 Nexus and the new DDJSZ

Bugs happen, how a company responds to them is the true test. It is simply not possible in testing to create every possible scenario a product will face in the real world and bugs get past QA. Companies that identify the bugs and correct them in updates cannot necessarily be faulted for the bug existing in the first place. As to updates failing to fix an issue or introducing new ones... same thing... there is no way to catch everything in QA. When Rane for example releases firmware updates for the Scratch Amps (SL1/2/3/4) or Serato releases updates for their software there's a disclaimer about installing it on critical gear with inadequate time for testing and without a rollback or fallback strategy.

Pioneer gets a lot of unnecessary hate in my experience. Are they perfect just because they're industry standard? No. Are their prices a little extreme? I think so. However, their products are solid and have stood the test of time and I have never seen an issue with Pioneer hardware that has affected core functionality and the issues that affect minor functionality tend to be patched pretty quickly.

And don't forget, people with problems are the loudest... Most people who have a product that's working just fine don't bother posting about how it "works as advertised." I worked in Tech Support for Apple for years... people didn't call to say "everything is fine" people only called with problems... from that perspective the products were horrible but it of course ignores the hundreds of thousands of people who never needed to phone us.

I just ordered 2 more HC4500's and 2 DN-D4500's MK2, they'll be here next Monday, better safe than sorry.

You should see my Twinkies :D :D

Nah, I always buy replacements, biggest ones are for the Mustangs. I've been very happy with Denon so if things go bad I have two of each of the components I use. If things stay the same I'll be happy and still have backups ;) .

Yeah, Denon has switched over to Serato already. Actually one of the things i wasn't happy about myself, since i use Virtual DJ for my DJ, Video, and Karaoke software now and LOVE the Denon products. I just actually bought 2 of the Denon MC6000's to use because i know i won't be able to get them in the near future. I don't think there's a better controller out there currently that's made specifically for Virtual DJ.
