I received a lead from my website regarding a price quote for a wedding.

Looking for Price Quote for Brother's Wedding 10-10-10. My Brother is a captain in the Air Force.

I guessing she's fishing for a military discount? I see no problem with that! You serve and put your life on the line for this country and my family, you deserve a discount. The question is - how much? Do I offer a hour for free? Add a lighting package to the deal?

What do you do?

The answer would be yes.

I have never once expected to get my listed price for my service.

I list an 5 hour wedding at $899 most people actually pay $749 cause I run different specials all the time. I don't discount holiday weekends.

So, military I would tell them I will give them $150 off which is the same discount I give everyone. It's just how my pricing is set up.

For weddings I give 20% discount of normal price. Other functions, 10%. Unfortunately, I don't ask every client if they are in the military, but if during the initial exchange of information I learn that there is an Active Duty connection, I tell them about the discount.

Military Discount

I always give military people a discount as I myself was in the U.S. Army and feel we owe our military people a little extra consideration for putting their lives on the line so we can stay at home and run our businesses. ; )

Overtime rate is also discounted for military. BTW I'm retired military, Army, so I KNOW first hand about the value of a "buck" that some of these mid-rank enlisted make.

Though Cam said it in his own round-about way, I'm probably going to be the only one to say 'no?'

No, yer not ;)

I don't give discounts because someone is in the military -- and I've been in twice on active duty.

A career choice, has nothing to do with prices. The military is no longer a mandatory thing -- it is simply a choice of occupation.

Should I give the garbage man a discount, because he works in traffic all day (which is probably far more dangerous on average)...? ;)

Nope, no military discount here. We work with the B&G if they need to change dates due to leave or deployment issues, but that's all we do.

I guess I am a meany too!

I don't discount because of Race, Religion, Sex, Military Service, Handicap or "cause we don't have no money"! My prices are already very reasonable for this area so they can already consider them discounted!

By the same token I don't raise my rates "because someone does have money"!
