$14 should not buy so much fun...

I thought this was a PROFESSIONAL DJ forum. ;)

If you bother to read the reviews, there are tons of complaints about units that don't work out of the box, and units that fail after a few hours. Plus even many people saying they took the units apart to correct wiring or focus issues...
they are $10 who cares? if someone finds a use for them that ads value to their end product then hooray for them.

Lol Papa, didn't I mention before that gullibility abounds? Let them waste their money on Mickey Mouse Gadgets.

They're $10 ... might even have a place behind a semitransparent facade ... and if they break .. no big deal. It's not like they're using a boombox for small events.

Good point. I have a number of dynamic mikes like that. The output level, and the sound itself, isn't that great, but I'm not too worried about someone dropping a $10 Nady or a $20 lower-end AT. Bounce away, boys (which they always do). BTW, I've found a couple of useful lights at Spencer's-- they are moving more "upscale."

I have close to a dozen quality mics (Sennheiser, AT, AKG, Neumann) and I use a pair of $20 Digital Research "Mickey Mouse" mics for Karaoke because they work, are built solid, sound ok, and I won't come unglued when someone drops one, pours half their drink on it or spins it like a lasso (all have been done). For non-bar work, I use the better mics. I admit, I have been using the Shure Super 55, though, since it can't come off the stand without a lot of work.

For karaoke?!? Looks cool, and s(h)ure, they can't take it off the stand, but do you really want all of that drunkard beer spit up in your Shure 55?
I have the original (not the Super), and for a dynamic, it's one pretty awesome mike. I've A-B'd with my Sennheiser 441, Shure SM7, and a number of decent condensers, and it can hang with the big boys _and_ look cool. Nice microphone, especially for the money.

Yes read the original title.... $14 people spend more on a toothbrush or beef jerky...

I'm taking the risk .. one Shure 55, 2 Dynamic Reference (I misstated it as Research above) .. until I can get a decent price on 3 wireless mics. The GtD have plastic mic barrels, which I'm trying to avoid. Almost bought the AKG digital set, but reviews were less than stellar and they have revamped that line.

Gotcha. I have the Digital Reference (classy-name, muddy tone) in my "drop-able" collection as well.

>>>>The GtD have plastic mic barrels, which I'm trying to avoid.<<<<

That is probably wise. I had an old Shure hand-held wireless (before I got the Shure wireless 58; forget the model #). Plastic housing (so is the 58 though). I used to stroll through the audience on one song (I'd duck out the back door while the guitarist was soloing, and come back in the front door behind the crowd). One night a young drunk ^%$#@*#! thought he'd be funny and tried to grab the mike out of my hand. I wrestled it back (should have smacked the boy one time, but I'm too generous). Got back on-stage, and it was gone; no signal. The microphone was toasted, just from the (pretty slight) pressure of the guy squeezing on the mike while I was holding on pretty tight too. Never dropped it though, but that was the end of it.

I have 5 Audio-Technica 3000 systems (5 receivers, 3 handhelds, 4 body packs) that I can use, but still undecided on the wireless, since people in the bar are apt to walk around with them and I have to deal with feedback constantly, along with the concern of getting them back. I normally have 1 set up for me to use and have used a few for non-bar work, but for my singers, getting drunk seems to be the first requisite.

A 3 or 4 channel mid-range setup would be ideal .. say a slightly more hardened version of the Gtd mics.

Steve what i did is put a rubber sock on my GTD handhelds. I have had a broken sleeve before from someone dropping my mic so I got the sleeves for this reason.

A rubber sock ... Is that like a mic condom?

they are $10 who cares? if someone finds a use for them that ads value to their end product then hooray for them.

Hooray for them is FINE, if they don't mind the high failure rate. I might be the least respected DJ on this site because the majority of my business is with children's events, but even I want my gear to work the way it should, and the reviews basically show a huge failure rate. TBH, this is cheaply made Chinese stuff, and I would even be concerned about potential fires. I bought a cheap Chinese light for my daughters party about 8 years ago, and the cord was so damn hot, it felt like it could start a fire. Granted, this should not generate so much heat as the light I had, but I wouldn't trust it.

Plus, isn't the mantra of this site generally "buy the best you can afford, so you only have to buy once?"

The reviews tell you all you need to know.... it is a $14 piece of junk.

Bought two. Both were dead on arrival. Hard to believe someone couldn't find 30 seconds to plug these in to verify that they actaul work before shipping them out.

Will not use this vendor again.

I stopped working the day after it arrived. I plugged it in and it worked for about twenty minutes. Its is very cheaply made and is not worth buying.

I received the LED RGB stage light for Disco DJ Stage and when I openend it and plugged in in, it didn't work..right out of the box.
I was disappointed because I really wanted this to work and there were no directions nor troubleshooting suggestion.

U get what u pay for. They didnt work AT ALL. the wiring was all lose. As if they built them themselves... waist :( I thought they looked pretty cool in the picture but thats as much as you'll get out of it. My opinion. My experience. If I could give it "NO star" I would.

It's simple; sometimes these work, sometimes they don't. I ordered two. One worked for a couple of minutes and the other did not work at all. If you order these know that you are taking a risk. When they work, they are worth the money and awesome. When they don't, it is a huge disappointment.

Yes, but playing with them .. isn't necessarily the same as deploying them.
