Gig Report - I would appreciate your photog suggestions

NO ONE less pro photogs are gonna notice things like composition unless it's way off. What they will notice is clarity (the ones you showcased were blurry) and emotion. If you can capture emotion with a clear picture you are golden. One man's opinion

Just ran the Fox for the first time

If you can't talk them out of it (who knows maybe it's got significance to their bridal party/friends) fire it off after bouquet/garter and announce to everyone that this is their jam and to join them on the floor . Good chance they're all drunk at that point and they'll go with it, if not...

Credit Cards? PayPal vs Square vs Local Bank - A Study With Surprising Results

Rick do you book gigs sight unseen? i.e. they book right on the the website without meeting/phone consult? I've had Bride's book over the phone without meeting but usually meet up to seal the deal.

Credit Cards? PayPal vs Square vs Local Bank - A Study With Surprising Results

I don't ignore clients who would prefer to use paypal/credit cards and can accommodate (and have) but I also question the wisdom of featuring and by default encouraging customers to use a form of payment that will cost me money. With this being said I am not a high volume business and imagine...

Do you lead dances or provide props?

Stopping down the music and teaching the Merangue could be a huge HIT or a huge MISS depending on the crowd. Keep in mind what works for one DJ might not work for another. Sounds like your guy has the skillset to pull it off. Others may not. Some are great at mixing, some aren't, some are great...

    What's Poppin?

All fine for cocktail or dinner. When its time to dance people want to dance to what they know. True every event will have their specialty songs (the last wedding i did they were big into EDM) but overall if you play things folks arent familiar with it wont go well IMO.

    What's Poppin?

I get that but again I point to familiarity, if it's months before anyone knows about it, it really doesn't make sense to play it before you know it's going to be a hit

    What's Poppin?

Satellite Radio plays everything including a lot of stiffs. Personally, I wouldn't base a playlist off of that. As to what works it depends on the type of event. For weddings keep things familiar as people want to dance to songs they know. As to clubs I don't do them but would imagine people...

Just ran the Fox for the first time

Actually you can't. But what do I know I only program a Top 40 radio station for a living ;)
  19. mikemerlin

Just ran the Fox for the first time

From a programming ooint of view its very polarizing. People either love it or hate it. Most stations if they are playing it do so at night...

Just ran the Fox for the first time

The problem is the weird yelling and barking parts. Unless the crowd really is into it it's just not "danceable" I wouldn't play it unless I had to. The sooner that song goes away the happier I'll be lol

New Dj Rental Firm In The Tri-state (ny/nj/ct) Area

Wow is it a $1000 a day? Didn't really delve into the prices. I could see a DJ needing a small system or someone who wants to throw a party. In the end I can't imagine it making an impact on DJ's in the area
