We had one of those a while back when we first started doing ceremonies. It was around for one ceremony before it got packed up and started collecting dust in our garage. It got nicknamed the "gray turd" and was eventually sold to Guitar Center at a steep loss, but we didn't care, it was a piece of junk and was gone.

Unless they've drastically improved the sound quality, I would advise folks to just assemble their own ceremony system.

I have to agree. I'm no Peavey hater but those little suitcase P.A. systems are garbage.

Here's one mini system I like (and may buy): HK Audio Lucas Nano 300 (New around $600-$650).

Briefly .. there was one set up at a conference I was at in a small room. Only speaking, so I can't comment on music, but sounded pretty "big" for it's size.

You can either run it as above (2 separate cubes, 1 sub) or add a second set and run 2 cubes over separate subs.

Heres the link to their page: http://hkaudio.com/us/products.php?id=376

How much for that system and I believe that system was designed for a small room for someone to use for a speech they are giving. I wouldn't expect a whole lot out of that system. So I wouldn't go crazy with trying to use that setup for a big job or for a ceremony.

Google is your friend .. about $650.

I've been looking for a Bose L1 alternative for small karaoke and ceremonies. This may be it. Thanks for sharing.
The Bose will be better, much better.

I'm sure it is. I went ahead an ordered one though. My vendor says reviews are mixed and will let me send it back if I don't like it.

I have a wedding ceremony and reception next weekend with attendance about 50ish. Going to give it try during rehearsal next Friday if all is well will use for the ceremony and cocktail hour. I hope it works out as I have a couple similar sized weddings later in the year.

In 3 weeks will have a karaoke b-day party at a residence were no more than 30 are expected. Would be great not to have to lug the K10s and KW181 for that.

No drama intended.

There is ALWAYS something better for a price.

Is the Cocktail area in the same room as the Reception? If so, why would you need two different systems? I can understand you using a small system for the Ceremony if it is in a different area.
Systems should be designed where you can use just Tops, then Tops plus 1 Sub, then Tops plus 2 Subs, then double from there in the same order.

The HK Nano (like the Bose L1 Compacts) follow that as well. 1 system (2 top cubes and base unit) to start. Then 2 systems (2 top cubes over each bass unit) is the step up.

The tops and subs paradigm is only for certain speaker types.

I was referring to Full DJ Systems that are used for Dancing etc.

Different areas for next week...

Ceremony: Outdoors
Cocktail: Indoors right outside the conference room/hall
Reception: Hall

Agree on the system design points. I'm building a QSC system around that theme. I have a pair of K10s, KW153s which I was planning to use. Have a KW181 also but planned to let the KS153s hold their own.

Looking for a lighter load though as I start doing more home based karaoke making the Bose or similar attractive.
