This happened here once. At a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. Seven brides were left stranded as the owners bailed and moved off to Florida. It was a rreal mess. The place stayed closed for about 2 years but has since reopened. It was/is my favorite venue to work.

Dont worry we have had a few Venues close on us over the years (doing too much too quick and they get caught)
I had a bride 5x days call me before the wedding crying her venue closed and with all the details on all the venues I have been too over the last
who knows how many years at that time
I had a venue for her to use in 2x DAYS (well before her wedding date and also 5min from the one that closed)
after that she sends me as much work my way I can handle
thats because I went over and beyond the call of Duty
its slowed down over 3x years ago as I said to her about semi-retirement and thats fine
I still have a choice for shows and if not I send them on to others
if I hadnt have help this one lady for a venue who knows what would have happened
anyway have fun guys

It's happening more and more... We have had a few venues do that in this area, and also one wedding vendor who offered DJ, photography AND video (the more you bought, the less you paid per item...) Quite a few brides got BADLY burned in that debacle!
A smart venue owner nearby could make some easy money,
if they were willing to give a little on the price and honor some of the deposit.
I just wonder about this line from the article....that the email says they were
