I just booked a gig through thumbtack, a Sept 17th wedding $1495 for the reception and $295 for a ceremony that is approximately 40 minutes away at a separate location. this was listed with a budget of $300-$400 a couple of communicative questions and answers and a phone call and deposit made, I had a bunch of free credits available from thumbtack so I figured what the hell I'll give it a shot. sometimes you can get someone to understand.

I also get quite a bit of work from Thumbtack. Three things you need to do/don't do to get gigs from there:

1. If you don't like what it says, DON'T BID!
2. Be very detailed and get as many reviews as possible.
3. Be quick. If you see a quote request you like that probably means a bunch of others will like it as well. Only the first 5 quotes will be sent and that can happen in a matter of minutes. You snooze you loose.
